Brother, sister, cousin, aunt, uncle etc.
I can’t say I’ve ever known the relative of a celebrity. The closest I’ve come was a guy who claimed to have grown up on the same street as the Jacksons.
Still, has anyone here ever known someone related to a famous person, and if so what were they like? What sort of stories do they have?
Used to work on a committee with a guy who is Ryan Seacrest’s uncle.
My mom used to be good friends with Cardinal Bernadin’s sister, does that count?
My aunt dated Beavis and Butthead creator Mike Judge once.
I work with a guy who is some sort of nth-removed nephew of Steve Martin. Sadly, I’m not sure the esteemed Mr. Martin is even aware of his existence.
One of my best friends is related (by marriage) to Chad Greenway, one of the defensive backs for the Vikings. He says that while Chad’s a super nice guy, the NFL stardom has kind of gone to his family’s head, which isn’t so great.
I’m tenuously related to Jimmy Stewart. His sister married my great-uncle.
Film director Barry Sonnenfeld’s father was my business mentor and unoffical surrogate grandfather and is still one of my closest friends.
One of my bosses was **Johnny Carson’s **nephew - and damn if he didn’t look a bit like him and sound *just *like him. My boss was a Grand Old Man at the firm, so I couldn’t ask him for stories, but one year we had a talent show and he, as the head of our practice, was the MC. He did an opening monologue and he totally killed! It was hilarious and he really leaned on words and physical habits that were Johnny-like so the resemblance was even more surreal. When I complimented him on it, he told me that he called Uncle John a few weeks before to get some pointers - and Johnny got the Tonight Show writing team to actually write my boss’s opening monologue! How cool is that?!
Genealogically speaking, I’m related to a lot of presidents and those sorts of folks, but I’m assuming you mean immediate relationships. So…no.
A good friend of ours who makes the most awesome Bar-B-Que North of the the Mason Dixon Line and East of the Mississippi is the nephew of Barbara Streisand.*
I also used to hang out with Timothy Hutton who is the son of Jim Hutton and the son-in-law of the former Prime Minister of France: Valéry Giscard d’Estaing.
I know a couple of extant Coppolas that I worked on a comic book they are trying to get off the ground with.
*For some reason I couldn’t remember her name so I googled “Jewish singer with big nose.”, and it worked. I don’t know why I kept thinking of Susan Sarandon and Meryl Streep.
I used to work for a company that was owned by a British utility conglomerate run by the brother of Joe Cocker. I only ever met him once; the mannerisms do not run in the family.
Knew Bob Gainey’s daughter all too briefly.
I attended elementary/junior high school with Jeff Bridges’ daughter, Dennis Miller’s son, Robert Zemeckis’ son, and some others. My stepmother’s father is Sid Fleischman, for those of you who know children’s books.
I know somebody who’s sister-in-law is a not real well known actress that has been in several recent sitcoms.
I met Peter Yarrow and his daughter, John Kerry is his daughter’s Godfather. So I guess Peter Yarrow’s daughter is related to two famous people in that way. 
I attend the same church as former Tool bassist Paul D’Amour’s parents.
I went to middle school with Chuck Norris’s niece. She looked just like him, but with darker hair (and no mustache, of course). She wasn’t really all that nice and I think what bonded us more than anything was that we shared the same first name. Mr. Norris had a studio in the neighborhood and we’d go there after bowling (the bowling alley was next door).
My head football coach in high school was Christian Fauria’s (NFL Tightend) brother and our AD was the dad of Mark Brunell while Mark’s brother was our wide receiver’s coach.
Hayley Mills is a great aunt of mine or something.
Oh, just remembered–Many years ago, Hallgirl1 went to middle school with the son of writer, S.E. Hinton.
I went to school with a gal that said she was former NFL linebacker Bill Romanowski’s sister. Dunno if she really was, or just had the same last name.
