Because sometimes I sure as hell wish I did.
I’d name names, play direct quotes and show pictures… and still, no-one would believe it. Thing is, it’s probably no different than any other place of work. Which is a downright soul crushing reality.
I may be a bit naive but why can’t you? Do you mean you hate hiding or changing names to proctect the stupid?
Nah. Even if I had that sort of freedom, I’d be a fool to exercise it.
I am simply afraid that there exists some law or company policy that forbids me from revealing to a random internet population who I work for that I am unaware of.
Most of our contact with the outside world is heavily restricted by diplomacy, and I fear it would be un-diplomatic to reveal to a random internet population that I work for x internet corporation. I’m willing to bet that some dopers are customers of my company. Even if it’s a very small number.
Yes
Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes
Maybe one day (after I retire…)
There have been several occasions where I’ve censored myself because the information would either be to revealing as to my identity (not that most of you would give a damn, but it only takes one to stir the pot) or a current anecdote might compromise a competitive situation.
The second one would be the most important, as quite a few Dopers know my RL identity.
I signed a contract which forbids me from discussing some aspects of my job. This doesn’t bother me a bit. The things that I am supposed to keep quiet about are not the kinds of things that I want to talk about anyway.
Damn straight. Except in my case it’s the General Counsel’s office, which I am very much aware of.
Oh the stories I can and will tell if my lotto ticket pays off this week - I figure 25M is good enough to quit and tell.
