Every time Trump opens his mouth, someone writes a story about him

As Samantha Bee put it, the Republicans nominated a sociopathic, 70-year-old toddler. They tied their own noose, let them hang from it.

I have no sympathy.

I mean, seriously, what were they thinking? Some of them are just stupid, but not all of them. I know Democrats who are stupid, but not enough of them to get say, Larry Kramer nominated. (No, that’s not anti-gay-- I’m just trying to think of someone extremely liberal with as little ability to self-censor as Trump). Somehow, the stupid people got control, and the smarter ones were all on a coffee break, or something.

Trump is only half the problem.
The other half are all those that make excuses for him.

So many years, so many stupid quotes.

Here’s a good one.

The thing is that it really ISN’T satire. Trump has more or less actually said that.

Trump is way past satirical humor. You cannot exaggerate him, for he exaggerates himself. Even the Onion has failed to keep pace with him. This article from July 28 is almost indistinguishable from his, and his minions’, actual criticism of the media since then:

To make fun of Trump they’re now resorting to outright absurdism:

I love these. Billy West is great.

That’s actually one of the more respectable things about him. Politicians have long been derided for their weaselly tendencies to never stand by anything they say if it turns out that something they said was unpopular with the public (regardless of what they actually think). Trump’s unwillingness to play that game is one of the things that has won him some support for not being a “typical” politician and actually having some backbone in the face of criticism.

You’re kidding, right?

Nah. I don’t support Trump, but what people don’t realize is that there’s a ton of people out there who do, and that’s the sort of thing they praise him for. Although in general I do detest the way politicians pander only to what they think the people think they should think, and would never, ever stand by anything they said if it offended somebody.

Wait… so when challenged on what you said you believed, your response is “Oh, wait, no. I just wrote what OTHERS who believe that might say.”
Followed by “Although in general I kind of believe it…”

I know of a presidential campaign that could use spinmeisters like you. And there could be a shakeup that’ll result in some positions opening up…

Oh no, I definitely respect the particular quality of not backing down from what you believe to pander to the public, as a politician. That doesn’t mean I support Trump (which I don’t, and have never claimed to). But I can see why his supporters like that about him.

The anti-Trump circle jerk has whipped itself up into such a frothing tempest that if you don’t pepper in at least a dozen mentions of how much you hate him and find him evil and vile and repugnant, you risk being accused of being a Trump sympathizer.

Doubling down on stupid is admirable?

Rigamorole ol’ chum, surely you’ve noticed that Trump does actually back down, equivocate, spin, and otherwise try to make palatable his sputum? It may take days of kicking and screaming, but he does it. The only one he’s sort of sticking by is the sarcastic (but not really) “founding” of ISIS.

The Simpson’s 3 AM phone call video has 63,108 likes, and 15,563 dislikes. That’s probably the way the vote will go.
