Every time Trump opens his mouth, someone writes a story about him

No wonder he did so well in the polls. He is not winning, but he is much higher than anyone else would have been if they did what he did. Every stupid gaffe he makes is front-page news for days. I wish the media would stop encouraging this behavior.

Totally disagree. Anyone else would be running a normal campaign and all the focus would be the bad news out of the Clinton campaign. Trump can’t even let Hilary take the heat for having the father of a mass-murdering terrorist photobomb her without opening his mouth and saying something stupid. If they stopped covering the stupid shit he said he might win.

It does rather drag the national discourse to new lows, however.

I vacillate between the opinion that maybe this is what our nation needs, a good ol’ drunken brawl to get every emotion out in the open for a fresh start and dredging up every silly divide diminishes our ability to see eachothers similarities and humanity for solutions.

Reduce the media coverage and there wouldn’t be so many rats fleeing the sinking ship.

I agree with the OP and the media’s fascination with this dude has been at the expense of the Republican Party (although they should get a lot of the blame for their demise).

What I’m getting at is that if the media hadn’t been eternally camped outside every Trump event and hanging on his every word, we may have had a *reasonable *candidate representing the Republican side. Don’t get me wrong; I’m pretty happy with the state of things. But this hasn’t played-out very fairly for the Republicans this season.

Also, I’m tired, tired, tired, tired, tired of it. I enjoy watching TDS, TNS, and (mostly) Sam B’s show, but daaammmnnn. Can’t you guys write a joke that doesn’t involve Trump? Sure, I know this shit’s low-hanging fruit, but haven’t you gorged yourself from the trough long-enough?

First, one would have to find a reasonable Republican capable of garnering enough financial support to be a viable candidate.

My simple solution to the problem posed in the OP.

Is that even boffking’s size?

No, don’t take away my front-row seat to the Chunderdome!

(Y’see, when Aussies puke, they ‘chunder’)

Every one of my friends were scared to death that Trump would win the nomination, but I said “Bring on the comedy!”

(actually, I think I squacked “It’s comedy gold, Jerry!” making yet another of my ubiquitous Seinfeld references… but that was months ago; I’m more mature now)

With Trump, the jokes write themselves. The press is camped outside of Clinton’s speeches also, but she doesn’t do the crazy. Remember, man bites dog gets the headlines. Especially when the man is rabid.

I think you’ve got the whole process backwards. Trump is a presidential candidate and the press is doing their job in reporting the things he says in his public statements. And Trump’s drop in popularity is due to the exposure he is getting in the press. This is an example of the system working.

And when he’s running for the office of dog catcher.

Yep. The biased lamestream media is attacking him personally by accurately reporting what he actually says. The bastards.

I laugh at the notion that what comes out of Trumps mouth are gaffes. The stuff getting reported since the nomination process began wasn’t stupid shit he said just once in an offhand comment and quickly disavowed later. No. He says something, is asked repeatedly if his intent is correct and then later when the vitriol against it brews up he stands by it.

The man is repugnant, his supporters are repugnant, it is not a journalist’s job to shield the public from that.

Trump Blasts Media For Reporting Things He Says
(It’s Andy Borowitz, so…satire. Just sayin’.)

Every time Trump opens his mouth, an angel tosses its cookies.

Know the saying “don’t hate the player, hate the game”? Well same thing applies here. Trump isn’t the problem.

Perhaps you could lead by example.

Personally, I love the way Trump is backfiring on the party. It reminds me of some lost episode of Lost in Space where the Republicans (Dr. Smith) unleash some berserker version of the Robot, and Dr. Smith screaming “Noooooooo!” as he’s being attacked by his own creation.

Overexposure in the media is the least of it. Trump’s words carry all across the world into the ears of Islamic extremist groups, who gladly agree with his assertion that Obama and Clinton formed ISIS. To quote Hassan Nasrallah, leader of Hezbollah:

Trump wipes his ass with data and documents. Enough people believe the shit he spouts off the top of his head to be dangerous.
