EVERYBODY at work knows my name

No, not WSLer, my real name.

It’s not like I’m a regualr employee or anything, I’m a rehire who started working in a new department a little over 2 months ago. I have to add that there are about 225 people in the department. What’s funny is that I hardly know anyone else’s name, but I’ve gotten really bad at that sort of thing over the last few years.

Take yesterday for instance. I came into work late because of the memorial mass for my mom, and it takes me 10 minutes ot get to my pod 'cause no less then 20 people stop and ask how I’m doin or say a variation on “Hey, Ben, what’s going on?”

I guess part of it could be that I’m fairly well-mannered and I’m smiling most of the time, and the fact that there aren’t that many men working in this department or that I shave my head, but still, this is just wierd.

Of course, I’m gonna have to go through this whole thing all over again in a week when I switch departments.

/Sigh/

You don’t wear a nametag, do you?

Just kidding. I’ve found that a lot of people know my name at work, and I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. Are they talking about me when I’m not there? Have I done something of notariety? Is my name on the men’s room wall?

Trust me. It’s a lot more concerning when EVERYONE at your favorite bar knows your name. Especially when people you’ve never met before walk up and act like they know you.
