Everything good is worth waiting for!

Back in June 2009 I made a topic asking about traveling to Japan (Tokyo in particular). I did end up choosing a tour in the end (still didn’t feel confident about going alone), but before signing up, I was laid off from work. Of course I felt like I dodged a bullet with that one!

I didn’t find another job until Nov 2009, and now that I’ve been here a year and accruing vacation time, cash and job security, I’ve made the plunge and signed up for a tour from the same company I was looking at before.

I’ll be going in March, and I’m so excited! I’ve gone through some really crappy stuff in the last 1.5 years and I’m finally going to do something I’ve thought about for years. I’m usually such a cautious person and a definite money hoarder so doing this, even with a tour group, is just so nuts for me!

Harajuku, Shinjuku, Akihabara…woo!

Not if the period in which it is good is extremely limited, such that waiting for it would make it bad or, more likely, simply worthless. Concert tickets, for example, are useless once the concert has occurred.

Nitpicking aside, congratulations for your vacation! I hope you have a wonderful time. Just… don’t think the sashimi is going to still be good if you wait too long to eat it.

Congrats on taking the plunge! You’ll have fun for sure.

But I suggest you start saving up your extra pennies now, because once the travel bug bites, it’s incurable. I bet you that a month after you get back, you’ll be plotting how you can take that year-long South East Asia solo odyssey. My beloved uncle was nervous about travelling to France. He goes on the trip, and next thing you know he’s moved to India for four years. Once you start, you can’t stop.

Oh how cool, kushiel, congratulations!!
