Someone asked me online yesterday if I thought that we were entering the Biblical “end of days”, and quoted a couple of mostly irrelevant Biblical passages. I have a vague idea that the god of the Bible said that it would be impossible for mankind to predict the end of the world, but it would be cool if I could quote a passage back to him. Is there one?
Mathew 25:13 is probably what you are looking for:
“Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man comes.” (KJV)
On same topic: Wikipedia page of failed predictions of end of world:
Yes, originally people thought that the end of the world was going to come within the lives of the original disciples. Ever since then, people have been saying it’s right around the corner, so we’ve been at the point of ‘almost at the end’ for around two thousand years. I’m not sure what ‘almost’ means to them.
Last time I looked, one of the prerequisites for the End Times was the rebuilding of the Temple*. Since that hasn’t happened yet, I’m not going to lose any sleep over it.
*MHO, this is the one of the main reasons for the Fundamentalist/RW backing of Israel. Once it’s accomplished, the Jews can join all the other heathens in the Pit.

Mea Culpa, and retracted.
It’s ongoing, it has happened and is happening and will continue to happen. The question is which one will be your end of days? Plagues of Exodus are the Plagues of Revelation, Jesus said some of you will not taste death till you see my Father’s Kingdom coming with power - His word is true or you can forget the whole thing, Enoch is the first one we know of who is raptured in the Bible. God does not change, is the same yesterday, today and forever, there has been no change, only our perception of history from our vantage point gives us a illusion that there was a difference between BC and AD times.
Anyway, maybe this verse is what you’re looking for Mark 13:32-3
32 But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 33 Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come.
I think the OP is looking for a particular Biblical verse about not knowing the end of days, and not looking for personal religious interpretations of what the End Times might or might not be.

Let’s restrict this to specific biblical passages predicting when the “End of days” will occur as per those already quoted. Your personal interpretation of the end of days is not relevant. If you want to discuss this, open another thread in Great Debates.
This goes for everyone. This is strictly limited to passages predicting the timing of the end of days, not descriptions of what they might entail.

Thanks, the citations from Mathew and Mark were just what I was looking for. Also, Colibri is correct that I wasn’t looking for a discussion of whether we are actually approaching the end times. Such discussions are plentiful online, and that way lies madness. I probably could have worded the thread title better. Apologies!
