Evilest Englishman/woman

And I humbly apologise for crowing so loudly when Australia were getting stuffed just a scant half a year ago.

Oh wait, I wasn’t and nor were any other Poms on the board.

Yes, the clues are few and far-between, but it does seem like the French may remember him fondly.

The Germans and Russians… eh, not so much.

The worst part is the “See also” list at the end. There are three other cases of “baby farmer” murderers, and another lone murderer who has been compared to or considered a “baby farmer.”

In my opposition to puppy mills, I have been arguing that whenever we treat lives as commercial commodities, the iron laws of commerce inevitably result in wastage, disposal of unsold/excess inventory, and cost pressures to minimize care.

The effects have been pretty horrific when applied to animals, and of course they were present in the Atlantic slave trade. It’s even more gruesome to see them applied to infant care as well.

Sorry to offend you. It’s a joke for cricket fans:

there are two teams out there but only one of them is playing cricket related to Bodyline.

I am not an English person, but would it be too out of the way to nominate Dolores Umbridge?

Serial killers obviously come in as being the most “evil” - people with really just no redeeming characteristics. People who simply enjoy pain and suffering for the sheer joy of it. There’s no circumstance (historical or otherwise) that makes their actions any more understandable. They’re not intended to do good, but have some twisted way of justifying it. They really do just stand on the other side of things, intending to cause harm and misery and knowing exactly what they’re doing. That’s the closest thing I can think of that is based in reality that means “evil.” In that sense Jack the Ripper is more evil than Adolph Hitler, even though the one obviously committed more evil acts than the other.

I’m sure that she’d even lend you her pen…

I’d nominate Aleister Crowley but he’d probably consider it an honor to be called the eviliest Englishman.

I think there’s a fair amount of evidence that Bamber didn’t do it; even if he did, plenty have killed more and in more sadistic ways.

Douglas “the machine gun is an overrated weapon” Haig. For Passchendaele more than for the Somme.
He was a Scot, but I take the liberty of assuming the OP means anybody from the UK.

Now wait a minute, we’re always getting told off for claiming the likes of Andy Murray as our own, so you can’t just foist some Scottish bastard on us.

70 posts and nobody’s dropped Bloody Mary’s name in the hat yet ?
You’d think the honorific would be a clue that she isn’t in the “Top 50 Britons scheduled for beatification”.
