...except on Tuesdays

Alright Star Trek trivia masters, help me out here.

I remember a long time ago when I was just a colt watching a Star Trek (original series) episode where Kirk & Co. get mixed up with a planet who’s entire economy and culture is based on a book about Mafia gangster types. Hilarious stuff. In one scene he is trying to stall or distract some not too bright hoodlums with a comical made up poker-type card game. One of the rules of the game wasn’t followed or was reversed only on Tuesdays. I thought this was such an out-of-the-blue rule that I’ve used it from time to time when making inane comments on a variety of subjects (like “That’s right, ma’am, your password IS case sensitive, except on Tuesdays when you have to type in somebody elses password”).

If you answer these questions three, 'ere the other side you’ll see:

  1. What was the name of the game?
  2. What are the rules as Kirk stated them?
  3. What is the name of the episode?
  1. Fizzbin
  2. See below
  3. “A Piece of the Action”

For some reason, I’ve always thought this would be a good band name, in the They Might Be Giants vein.

Thanks, RealityChuck, I knew somebody around here would know that useless but important piece of information.

Fizzbin sounds like it could be turned into turned into a really fun drinking game. Like a cross between Calvinball and Asshole. AssBall!

Say (since the OP has been answered in the very first reply), what are the rules to Calvinball? Am I allowed to hijack my own thread?

Well, I’m off to compute the odds of getting a Royal Fizzbin. grumble… lazy ass Spocko

There are no rules, other than:

1.You make up the rules as you go.
2.You can never play the same way twice.
3.I know, I know, but Calvinball only has two set rules. Sorry, Opal.

Hmmm…Fizzbin reminds me a bit of Dragon Poker…

There is, technically, one more rule…you have to wear a black mask. (And the wearing of the mask can NOT be questioned.)

Plus, most of the Calvinball games seemed to employ a Volleyball, and those metal croquet rings. But those were probably just the most convenient sports items available.
