Some of you might have noticed that I’m a bit of a gun nut, so it may come as no surprise that I’m an NRA Life Member. One of the joys of being in the NRA is getting an unending stream of email from them. Sure I could easily stop this, but then I’d miss out on things like I received today -
“How can wine help defend my basic freedoms?” you may ask, well -

I don’t know why this strikes me as funny, but it does.
And who says alcohol and guns don’t mix?
Yes, instead of swilling a Pabst with whitetail bratwurst, why not enjoy a velvety Pinot Noir… hand-crafted by a fiercely independent winemaster along a remote section of California’s Russian River Valley.
Funny, but this is a truer statement than you think. You’d be pretty hard-pressed to find a vineyard manager or owner out here (I work in the Russian River Valley) that *doesn’t *own a gun. And they’ll have it handy while roaming the vineyards (for killing or scaring off pests; birds, coyotes, foxes, bobcats, etc.)
