Expensive Beers

Ebay prices for rare/vintage beers have exploded in the past two years. I’ve seen several different beers sell for well over $500 in the past year alone. A bottle of Still Nacht Reserva from 2000 recently sold for over $700.

As far as retail, you have the crazy stuff from Brewdog, then Utopias, Deus (about $40 depending on location), Scaldis Prestige (about the same), and a few others.

After that, prices would be in the $20-$30 range for a variety of Belgian lambics from Cantillon or Drie Fontienen.

IN the UK we’d refer to a night our on the beers as a “session” or a “sesh”. I never knew we were using proper beer drinking terms …

Buyer beware! Check the wording of the ad carefully. People have been known to sell empty bottles on EBay.

It’s textbook binge. I don’t lump the negative connotations in with the word though.

There’s apparently some evidence that the term originally came from the UK and referred to a beer you could drink for 3 or 4 hours before having to go back to work.

If that’s the case, it definitely refers to a lower alcohol beer that’s not strictly intended to get you drunk.
