My daughter (she’s 9) wants a Minecraft Realm, so that she and her schoolfriends can play together. Does anyone have any experience with these?
I’ve got no particular problem with her playing Minecraft, and from what I’ve seen you have to “whitelist” people to get on the server so randoms can’t join.
Can you get more than one map? The FAW mentions minigames and gives no more information… anyone know about those? It also says you can have random maps or premade ones, what are the premade ones like?
I’m interested in any stories about them.
I’m going to take that as a “no”, and so after a bit of research, I’ll answer my own question.
Minecraft Realms doesn’t seem to be worth it. There are other hosting sites that are cheaper, and allow more freedom - allowing FTP access to install mods and maps seems to be standard for everyone I looked at except Realms. I think the only reason that a Realms server would be good if you didn’t want the hassle of dealing with any server setup at all, and didn’t mind paying a premium for that. And didn’t mind the given limit on server population. Other sites have limits, but there’s generally a sliding payscale.
