Would anyone like to join a Bedrock Minecraft Realm?
My mother and I play Minecraft together. She’s retired, so she plays a lot. I play quite a bit. We really enjoy it. However, we’d like to play with a larger group, but we would really prefer people closer to our age.
Anyway, we have a realm and were thinking about launching in a week or two. I have a few fellow teachers who are interested, but we’d like to have a few more. I don’t really want to go asking the wilds of Reddit, but this has been a pretty safe community for the last 26 years, so it feels different.
Same here. I have many hours on many games but haven’t ventured into multiplayer worlds much since overdoing it a few decades ago on EverQuest. I think playing with a bunch of old Dopers might be very enjoyable.
Same here. I have been off multiplayer for a LONG time and generally avoid it but Minecraft seems tame enough.
Weirdly (considering I am a gamer), I have never actually played Minecraft. I certainly know about it though…just never tried it for some reason. I have no idea how multiplayer would work…do we all just build or own stuff in the same world?
I love minecraft.. I used to host my own server.. Then lightning took out my whole network.. i just got a computer back up and now i have a spare… and was thinking about resetting up a new minecraft server.
Ive never tried realms.. but would be willing to..
I’ve been playing a lot of Minecraft recently. I have a Java server where I’ve been hosting a square dance class. (Yes, really. Although we are running into scheduling problems.) I’d be interesting in giving it a try, if i can figure out how to log into Bedrock.
(I just defeated an ocean monument yesterday! I got two armor trims and 30 sponges. I’m still excited.)
If you didn’t switch to creative or easy mode, or use a mod of some sort, it ain’t cheatin’. Nice work!
I think I’d like to join. I’ve never been part of a server before. I don’t have a ton of time available, but I bet I could give it an hour or two a week.
Lol, i always play in easy mode i suck at combat. And i built my base on a mushroom island, so i don’t have to deal with random monsters. When i really cheat, i switch to peaceful. I sometimes do that in the nether. I’ve never done it in the overworld, though. And i have an off-line single-player game that i use when i want to do a test build in creative. I don’t ever use creative on my “survival” server.
But recently, I’ve been exploring, so i have had to do more combat than usual. But… When I travel to a new location that looks interesting, the first thing i do is build a hut with a bed and windows, so i can sleep through the night and look outside to see if it’s safe to open the door.
For whatever it’s worth, my mom never played a video game in her life–like, not even solitaire on Windows–and started playing Minecraft at like 76. She loves it, and she’s really good at it: Minecraft is so popular with so many people that YouTube is full of tutorials for every thing.
Here is the Discord we have started. This is all VERY nebulous right now, but we can start talking about what sort of server we want.
I hope Discord is okay with everyone. I don’t know any other way to have conversations prior to launch, and it’s useful after launch to pass on information, or even do voice chat in game. However, if you don’t do Discord, I am still happy to send an invite to the server when it gets going.
I spent a ton of time on Realms with my son and his friends during COVID. It was fun but I was more into building, redstone work, & resource accumulation while they were more into fighting and destruction.
I like hard because it’s pretty essential for Villager Curing. But honestly, I’d be open to playing with Keep Inventory, if people wanted. For newbies, it makes the game much, much less frustrating.
There are a few things it’s nice to talk about. People may want to post their base coordinates, so that two people don’t try to build in the same place. We may want to coordinate a time and place for the dragon fight. A HermitCraft style shopping district is fun. It’s nice to have a place to ask for resources, as well. It’s also fun to be able to tell people when you like what they’ve done.
I also think it’s nice to agree on a couple limits, like “don’t build big ugly farms right at spawn”. That’s actually the only one, now that I think about it. I think there’s value in a spawn village area that is communal. But I know some people don’t think about aesthetics at all, and wouldn’t think twice tearing spawn up and leaving floating trees and creeper holes every where. So it seems worth talking about.
