Experiences with Fusion

I detected undertones of contempt for fusion cuisine in the Ethnic Food abuse thread from a couple of days ago. I understand that for most it’d have to be an acquired taste - few are fed strogannoff with nasi briyani (my parents are twisted folk) from childhood but most of my experiences have been good ones - most recently in at Wasabisabi in Hong Kong, where they serve this ridiculously good foie gras sushi. (If you’re ever in town, it’s on the top floor of Times Square, in Causeway Bay.)

Has anyone else ever had at least passably palatable fusion food? If so, where, and what did you have? And why do all the food snobs I know in RL scoff when I solicit their opinions on this?

Reminder to to self: ONE preposition will suffice.
