That’s likely only ever been something said on an individual level and the discretion of individual employees. I can’t say a stray franchisee never formally asked staff to say that to customers … but I am confident without researching that the phrase was never corporate policy.
Well, technically, some things are exclusive like that. If you are pro-evolution, you generally have to be anti-creationism.
I don’t really want to respond to your attempted thread hijack, but of course that is what people believe: that gay marriage subverts the definition of marriage. Therefore they stand for traditional marriage by opposing gay marriage. Maybe we could have this debate in another thread if you want to start it instead of shitting in this one.
As pointed out, Chik-Fil-A stance isn’t “for” traditional marriage. Hell, I’m for traditional marriage. I think people should be able to get as many traditional marriages as they want. (Which, I guess, is one, otherwise it’s not traditional anymore.) Chik-Fil-A wants there to be fewer marriages in the US. There are whole classes of people they think should not be married, and they want to legally bar those people from getting married.
Chik-Fil-A is anti-marriage.
Well, I guess it wasn’t a hijack since a mod responded. I have no interest in a further gay marriage debate in a fucking fast food thread. Carry on with the left wing feel good.
Nonsense. Many (most?) Christians today believe in some form of “special creation” - that God created evolution to produce humans or some such thing. It’s perfectly reasonably to be in favor of something without opposing it’s alternatives.
Which is why I said “generally.”
Like **UltraVires **said, this would be better in a different thread. If that wasn’t a good analogy, then we can use another, but some things are inherently exclusive. If “traditional marriage” is defined as “one man, one woman,” then by definition, all other forms of marriage (same-sex, polygamous, etc.) are outside that definition.
TimeWinder was responding to your statement. Why is that not a hijack?
And why is Chik-Fil-A not against serial marriage? According to the Bible, that’s just as abhorrent.
So this is pretty interesting: To get a Chick Fil A franchise, you apparently only need $5,000.00. But there is a vetting process that can take up to a year, and includes numerous interviews.
Personally, I’d cite the things already mentioned for explaining their success: the food is consistently good fast food and their customer service is always top notch. Now, admittedly, it’s top notch in a creepy “Stepford Wives” way - everybody is so wholesome and saccharine that it makes me think they take the church bus right from Jesus camp to the hiring lines of the store (and I don’t think I’m exaggerating - I was at a Chick Fil A franchise when a young middle manager type came to the table to throw away the trash. I complimented him and the crew on their service, and in answering that it was a part of the company’s values he invoked the name of Christ. Although just one anecdote, it seems typical of their practice).
They stand for “no gay marriage.” You disagree that wasn’t the “tradition” for thousands of years?
I didn’t hijack the thread by using that term and have no interest in derailing the thread further.
Why does it matter if they are cult Christians, communists, pedophiles, or anything else as long as you get your food and then leave?
Ummmm, okay then.
Carry on with the right wing hate.
My favorite part of this whole thread was when you lumped them in with communists and pedophiles.
Since same sex marriage is a very recent phenomenon, then no, it wasn’t tradition. It was just the way things were done.
And you’re not hijacking since it was brought up in the OP and several times in the thread.
I hereby repudiate and move to amend my prior use of the word “traditional” and substitute “no gay.”
Carry on.
I don’t think I said it “matters”; I will occasionally eat there, but I always leave feeling like a) They have the best customer service of any fast food chain and b) that customer service is not just fast and efficient (largely, it seems, because they maintain a full staff, and one of the people on site seems like they could be the owner/operator ), but also so goodly sweet that it gives me a creepy vibe. Which doesn’t “matter”, since I can just get my food and then leave, but is memorable enough that I thought it was worth dropping a comment. From my observations, this joyful exuberance correlates with their efforts to recruit and attract young people to work for them who are poster-children for Christian conservatism.
Funny, about two months ago I found myself in the Houston area with a friend who is always telling me how great Whataburger is. As soon we came across one we had to try it. Meh. I have no idea what the fuss is about. Nothing terrible, but nothing great. IMO, of course.
ETA: I like the Chick’n Minis at Chick-Fil-A, but usually want them on a Sunday morning when they aren’t available so I rarely eat there.
My wife and I regularly joke about opening “Pagan Chick Fil A” - Only opens on Sundays, and all proceeds go to support LGBT causes.
They’re closed Sunday because the only thing Good People crave on Sundays mornings is The Laaawd.
It turns out on his days off, that guy offers himself on Grindr under the name “Pepper.”
