This is a bit of a continuation on this thread.
Ok, I’ve got this card, it has written on it,
Dr So-and-so
M.B., B.S. (Qld) F.R.A.N.Z.C.P.
Psychiatrist
What the hell do all those letters mean? Of course, the first half makes sense, but everything after and including the F makes no sense to me.
Anyone got any ideas?
While you may think they are clear, perhaps they aren’t what you think they are.
M.B. = Bachelor of Medicine (in reverse, because it’s in Latin)
B.S. = Bachelor of Surgery
Qld = University of Queensland
The most common qualification for medical practitioners in Australia is the double bachelors degree of medicine and surgery – but since this guy is a psychiatrist, he/she probably hasn’t done any surgery since med school.
