Extreme Home Makovers - I want that disco floor!

This past sunday’s episode of Extreme Home Makeover featured the installation of an awesome miniature disco floor.

…so awesome in fact that I would like to buy one for myself. Did anybody see this episode and perhaps have some idea on where I could find such a product?

I haven’t seen that episode, and I don’t know if you can get prefab disco floors, and I am neither a contractor nor an architect.

All that having been said, here’s how I would do it. First, I’d acquire some tiles of frosted Plexiglas, making sure it’s thick enough to be walked or danced upon.
Second, I’d get some wood. Two-by-fours or four-by-eights, depending on how high you want the disco floor to stand up from the surrounding floor. Also, plenty of angle brackets and screws to hold all the wood together.
Third, I’d get some kind of black plastic stripping to go between the Plexiglas tiles on the floor, and some epoxy or Gorilla Glue to keep the tiles and stripping in place on the floor.
Fourth, I’d get some low-wattage lights in three or four colors to light up the floor, and all the appropriate wiring. And maybe some aluminum foil to better reflect the light upwards.
Fifth, I’d get some kind of controller box to make the lights flash in various sequences.

Note: Acquisition and construction of this is strictly left as an excercise for the reader. I take no responsibility for any harm to people or property due to the above. Offer valid in 49 states. Sorry, Tennessee.

They have a “as featured on” page for the Extreme Home Makeover…
