F*ck yeah!!!!!!!

Fuck yeah!

I screamed with delight, then noticed some of my neighbors were firing off bottle rockets and firecrackers (common practice amongst excitable Albuquerqueans who like to express joy via explosives).

Back in Illinois, the expression for good news was Fuckin’ A!

This was Christmas morning and New Year’s Eve and my birthday all wrapped into one!

If you listen closely, you can hear my shoes on the hardwood floor as I am doing my happy dance!

Thank you “furriners” for your support, and see…we 'mericans are not all idiots!

I live near downtown Seattle - and I left the place where I watched his acceptance speech. And then so did everyone else.
Hours of people celebrating in the middle of the street - it was amazing. I’ve been swinging from joy to tears to pride in my countrymen…
It’s a very good night.

Thank God he won. Now let the healing begin.

No sore loser here. I voted for Obama. It’s understandable McCain carried his home state, but not all of us followed the flock.

For the first time in my life, I am will now be older than a sitting U.S. President.

cochrane; In case it wasn’t clear, I only meant those people booing and catcalling at McCain’s concession speech.

I have nothing against the people of the beautiful State of Arizona (except that stupid highway cop that gave me that fucking ticket for going 4 MPH over on I-40.)

Congratulations Barack Obama, and congratulations USA. Well done.

You have to wonder what the Founding Fathers would think of this moment. Forget the fact for the moment that Obama’s not white, just the fact that the entire world is celebrating Obama’s win. The BBC was interviewing people in other countries who were saying that they felt better about their country because Obama had won.

Without firing a single shot, the US might just have not only changed herself, but the world as well. Good Christ, this democracy business is powerful stuff. Maybe we should try it more often.

Fuck yeah! Congratulations y’all!

Congratulations America. You’ve done good and should be righteously proud.

Bless you all.

That to me is a big part of why I would’a voted for the guy. He sounds like he knows the difference between an ally, a neighbor and a serf, and who knows this world belongs to everybody on it. Some other folks (and I’m not thinking only in US politics) have problems with that notion.

A national election is always a historical event. Right now the one detail some reporters are getting stuck on is that he’s the first US black president but to me that’s like JFK being the first Catholic one: it was a BFD for many of the people going to the polls but it’s a detail, it’s the policies we’re hoping for.

He won’t have an easy time and (like any politician anywhere) he won’t be able to do as much as he’d like to, but I do hope that he’ll leave the US in a better state than he got it.

I understand. At least McCain had the good grace to admonish the boo-ers.

Thanks for joining in our celebration of a new hope. I hope that our new president will lead us to mend our relationships with our friends (especially you guys) and negotiate peacefully with our adversaries. We’ve got a long road ahead of us, and we need your help.

I give each and every one of you a terrorist fist bump!

Here in Holland, a poll showed that 92% of our population would have voted for Obama, so I can say with confidence that we, as a nation, are very pleased with the election of Mister Obama, and me personally as well. Although he also has some very iffy values to me (no gay marriage, in favor of the death penalty), it is certainly preferable to the alternative.

And TVeblen, regarding the question why the rest of the world would be interested in the elections at all, besides war: the US has a huge impact on almost every live around the globe. Whether it is a financial crisis, the start of end of a war, a terrorist attack, **everything **reverberates around the entire globe. Of course we are interested in the person who, with a few decisions, can impact our lives across the pond as well.

Obama seems to understand this. He seems to understand that his actions will not only impact Americans, but people around the world, and this is a huge improvement over his predecessor.

Black? I thought he was Hawaiian!
He can sure luau. I can’t wait to watch the
next show for four years!

Best to BO (huh!) Best to the dopers.

Enjoy the puppy, girls!

If there are any USA-lians reading this - thanks for voting Obama in !!! - we luvs ya all. Who would have thunk that only 45 years ago African-Americans couldn’t even vote in many US states.

There is hope.

Another Dutch native here.

This early early morning, I had sneaked out of bed, gone online, got the baby, and we woke up my husband with the good news. Then we both told the baby that this was an historical day. He gurgled happily.

Another voice from across the pond who stayed up all night to watch the election, and who breathed a HUGE sigh of relief at 4am when Obama topped the 270. :):)

America, you ROCK!!!
