F-U neighbors, F-U!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“Quality,” “fruit,” and “Pathmark” are three words that should never inhabit the same sentence. I just did it myself, didn’t I? Crap!

I think you should start using Spanish phrases to your stinky neighbors. When they walk by, greet 'em with a hearty “Buenos Dias!”

Congratulations on your victory over the Williamsport Crosscutters, BTW. I should be at the championship game on Thursday or Friday.

One of my favorite stories (possibly apocryphal) about this sort of situation:

A group of people are sitting around talking and the subject of the new neighbors comes up. One of the long-time residents starts griping about having “those kind of people” moving in and spouting the usual tripe about property values, etc. As “proof” of how “those people” are ruining the neighborhood he points out that they’ve painted their front door red (which apparently ruins the beige-and-white them of the rest of the houses). One of the group, who has been listening to this but couldn’t figure out a polite way of telling him he was full of shit, excuses himself, goes home and paints his own front door red.

  1. Yep, South Shore near Great Kills.

  2. Actually, the new Pathmark on Amboy Road has pretty decent fruit.

I’ll try that next time.

It figures.

Not that the North Shore, where I was born and grew up, is all sweetness and light. But it seems more ethnically mixed, with fewer Brooklyn and Queens imports who came over to escape the ravages of mixed neighborhoods.

Fewer good Italian restaurants, though.

Zette, where in NC? My guess is that you won’t be far from me, since the largest concentrations of Hispanic immigrants are in our area and the county just south, and on the other side of the Triangle in Chatham County. It’ll be great having another expatriate Upstate New Yorker down here!

As far as being bilingual goes, it seems like about one help wanted ad in five either requires it or mentions it as a plus, so that’s an excellent move!
