Fabulous online physics-based game

This solution for Handling, posted in the “Worst Solutions” thread on the forums, is hilarious.

Here are some low scoring solutions…

Reach Up with 2 sticks and a wheel
Mind The Gap with 2 sticks
Junkyard Unicycle
Around the bend with a wheel
Around the bend with maximal simplicity
Mission to Mars: It was supposed to be a catapult. It turned into more of an evil see-saw.
Higher with 3 sticks

We had a couple more cool ones, but some of our saved designs have gone AWOL. Le sigh.

Grr… Bad link on that last one.

Higher with 3 sticks.

Also fun:

On a Roll with 1 stick

Also, does anyone else have a terrible time with the saved designs menu? Half the time the forward/back buttons don’t actually work.

My submission for unnecessary complication. It’s quite the hard worker, it eventually removes 2 of the big balls from the board: Fantastic Contraption: A fun online physics puzzle game

Awesome, but it can be slimmed down a little more yet, down to 6 points

Oops, I thought this was the contest thread…

I still win, do I? :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve been on a big honkin’ catapult kick. Here it is in action:

level 53 (I posted this in the contest thread. Pointwise it’s a loser, but c’mon, it’s a catapult!)
new 06
Big Ball

Similar thought, but I went in a different direction… Fantastic Contraption: A fun online physics puzzle game

Found this on the forum, Awash in 3!

You’ve got some mighty good stuff there, Tenebras. There’ll be another contest next week, and I hope you jump in on it. The rules on that one will be downright strange

I don’t know if anyone is still experimenting with glitch engines, but has anyone managed to get two of them working simultaneously? I was attempting to build a zeppelin, but one engine would tear itself apart before the other powered up.

If you mean what I think you mean, then they don’t work anymore. There was an update a few days ago that “fixed” the glitch.

You can still build them, you just can’t build them as small.

Not quite.

*** Ponder

 Yeah, I saw that. Grr…

Looking forward to the next contest. I’ve been trying to get the one with the hole in the wall down to 4 points. Oh so close…

Not nearly as good at this as the rest of you, but I decided to try something with New05.

You people are awesome. If only you had used your genius for evil instead of fun…

I’m curious. Would any of you be willing to share your occupation? I can’t imagine what would actually correlate well with creative success at this game.

I didn’t have the best of designs, but my undergrad was in mechanical engineering and I’m just about finished with my grad degree in explosives.

It’s not my current profession, but I’m trained as an animator. It apparently amazes the co-worker I sent this game url to that I can solve these things with relative simplicity, and I’m not even all that good.
I’ve always been an intuitive kinematicist, so that might help.

I have a BS in computer science and work in video games. Although I think the bigger factor is that I just like building shit; I thought about going into engineering instead of computers for a time.
