Ditto, I skipped right over it!
I’ll have to search for another broadcast time.
The dancing zombies was, indeed, a stitch and a half.
I think they do make good decisions about who goes home. Unlike some other competition shows, it seems pretty straight forward to me. In the zombie one, they were told to be creative and unique. So, Megan had a great concept but put too much red on the face; her concept, though, was some sort of plastic surgery that removed the whole face, and she went with what that would be like REALLY rather than what would photograph well. I think they were right to give her another shot.I dislike (intensely) the idea that the winner gets to bitch about who she/he thinks should go, although I do admit that it’s pretty interesting insights. Some of the winners have reasonable rationale for their comments, and others really are just bitchin’.
I think one or two of them early on actually had good points about who should go home. Sadly, once the Jr High Meghan/Connor nonsense started, all that went out the window in favor of petty shit slinging. I do however think the judges were on to that from the beginning.
When Tom won the Horror Villain, and then Meghan won the next, and they both spent their ‘pick who should go’ flaming the other with obvious hatred, it wasn’t like it was subtle.
I try to look at it as less of a “the judges actually want their input” and more of a “the judges are giving themselves and the audience a glimpse of the winner’s character and motivations so America will like them/hate them more and be more invested in the show.” That I can tolerate.
All I know is that when Megan laughs I get an intense urge to punch someone in the face.
It’s clear that Meagan really likes Connor, but my sense is that he’s just playing her. Does anyone else get that vibe?
I haven’t seen the new episode, yet (airs Thursdays up here, so I really have to be careful with this thread), but based on what I have seen of the two of them…not really. I’m rather in agreement with Tate on the matter - not only is Connor into Megan, he’s so into her it’s messing his head.
OK, seen the new episode.
The elimination lacked a certain amount of suspense, once Jo, Tom, and Anthony were announced as on the block.
Clearly, Anthony was going to be the first to go - given their central places in the inter-personal dramas, Tom and Megan were going to be ‘head to head’ so to speak.
I could have respected either of them being eliminated, once they got down to them, so I’ve no real comment on that part (though I agree with the criticisms of each).
Although I do think Tate could have been a little less transparent about his personal dislike of Megan being his motivator…you know, like not passing on recommending someone else?
This show sounds awesome, but they only have one episode on their website, and that one won’t play for me.
I’ve missed this so far. Do they show reruns?
OK, the latest elimination was kind of a rip-off.
They declare Sam the winner…about the only person there who isn’t invested in the Megan/Connor drama…and they don’t let her make a suggestion about who to kick?
Laaaame. I’d have loved to have seen someone who’s been there long enough to know the score (unlike the first two episodes’ eliminations), and won’t give into ‘oh, let’s get rid of X, because the whole Megan/Connor crush is making several of us insufferable’ give their opinion.
Of course, it would have been particularly funny if her opinion was ‘eliminate Megan. I want the girls’ loft to myself.’
I agreed with the judges except for the guy the created the goth character. That looked more like a monster than a real person. It was painfully obvious that it was a costume. Sure it fooled his sister but I’m surprised she didn’t react to a salesman that looked like a horror creature. I would have asked him if he was dressed early for a Halloween party.
Poor Megan. Her mask wasn’t that bad. It’s a shame she tore it off and went with beauty makeup. She obviously is the weakest and least skilled. She lasted longer than I expected.
I think the best artists this season are going into the final. Connor is the obvious Ringer. He’s been a class act too. No drama, and he’s helped several of the contestants. He was manipulated by Megan, but she is a very attractive woman. She’d distract me too.
I suspect most of this cast are winners anyhow. They’ve gotten a chance to show their talent to some of the industry’s elite artists. I bet a lot of them get job offers after the show ends.
I have really enjoyed seeing a bit more about how special effects makeup. Wish there was less focus on the drama, but hey, it’s TV.
I am so glad Megan was eliminated this week. It was painfully obvious that her work was the weakest. True to form, she made an excuse rather than just agreeing that her work wasn’t up to par.
I’m hoping now that Megan’s gone and there are only 4 contestants left we’ll get to see a lot more of the work and much less of the soap opera stuff but we’ll see.
I dunno about that. The increased focus on technique started at the same time the drama started.
Also, there’s only one episode left, so I’d expect it to pull back again, since otherwise we won’t really get to see what everyone’s doing.
Finale with the final 4 just started!!!
Either of those three could have justly won, IMO. All three of them had really amazing final pieces.
That said,
was there *really *ever any doubt Connor was going to win? His talents & experience were just so far ahead of everyone else there.
I have to agree about the winner. The others all stepped up their game in the finale. Noticeably better work all around.
I appreciated the drama free finale. It was all about the art and creativity. I saw a lot of famous faces at the party. Some of the more powerful producers of sci-fi were there. Hopefully, that will lead to jobs offers for these very creative artists.
They’re already requesting people to sign up for Season 2. Sure glad this show is getting another chance.
Yeah, about winner, I agree that Conner was head and shoulders above the others, from the get-go. He’s also older and more experienced, knew how to handle unexpected reversals (like the frog head having air bubbles). I was glad he won, though, because I thought any of the three could have.We loved this show, it was so much fun to watch, but I hope that season 2 has more focus on the art and less on the inter-personal drama.
I hate it in these competition shows when they bring back the contestants who were already kicked off. They were kicked off for a reason, and (especially when there was a lot of inter-personal drama) they can have a hidden agenda of supporting one contestant over another – i.e., easy to sabotage subtly. Or just be a little lazy. Or whatever. In short, once they’re gone, they should stay gone.
I had to step out of the room a couple times, and thus seem to have missed how he fixed that.
I disagree that the others ‘stepped up their game’ with this one - they all seem to be at the same level as before…except Connor, who finally brought his creative A-game, instead of just relying on his skill level.
I found it interesting that Sam chose both Jo and Megan as her team - sounded like asking for trouble, but she was right - they both shaped up…and actually got along pretty well. That was a good sign for their careers.
They didn’t really explain that. Before the show went to commercial, it was this big awful thing that happened and he thought he couldn’t use the piece and threw it on the ground all pissed off like, and then when the show came back from the break, Oh I’ll just glue it down, no biggie.
