ARE NOT NATIONAL HEADLINE NEWS.
Slap yourselves.
On the Guardian media homepage there are FOUR specific mentions of Facebook.
I don’t CARE that Facebook is used by 400m people, if they choose to tweak their website it ought to be a Twitter firestorm, or a PCMagazine.com story, not a bloody national news story.
ROAST ME OVER A FIRE STOKED WITH THE SHREDDED NEWSPAPERS OF JOURNALISM PAST.
Moving thread from IMHO to MPSIMS.
To be fair they are the “media” pages and it is a newspaper that prides itself on its co-opting of new media. With their very successful iPhone app (everyone said it would fail then it was in the top grossing apps section for a couple of months), the massive blogging section (Comment is free) etc.
I wouldn’t get so annoyed by it.
News is nothing more than what folks are talking about. People are talking about Facebook changes when they happen.
Personally, I want Facebook to go back to the display of 2 versions ago… and LEAVE IT THERE.
Microsoft needs to do the same thing. Don’t change the look & feel, especially when the “easier” L&F is “more difficult” than the old L&F.
Oh ya, (edit here), tell the Olympics broadcasters that we don’t need every sob story either. Show me the OLYMPICS, not the tragic tales.
I was annoyed when the Guardian carried the launch of the iPad on pages 2 and 3. It just seemed like a huge intrusive advertorial and not something of earth shattering significance. Unless Apple actually paid for the coverage (which without saying so is iffy) I don’t understand why the Guardian needed to give it all that coverage, especially outside its technology section.
