I don’t check FB that often and sometimes find that I had a message that I wasn’t aware of. I get notifications about emails, is there a way that I can get them for messages?
By “get notifications”, you mean on your phone? Best way is to download one of the official Facebook Messenger apps. For Apple it’s this one. For Android, Facebook actually puts out two; the one I use is called Messenger Lite, and it has less junk-I-don’t-use than the full-fat version. All of these apps will provide you not only with notifications when someone sends you something, but also the ability to read and respond to messages, and also video/voice calls.
not on my phone - on my laptop. Windows 10
Facebook does make a Messenger app for Windows. I have never used it, and I don’t know if it’s any good or not. You could try it out. It would definitely solve the immediate problem, and you could even carry on a conversation without opening the rest of Facebook.
Another option might be to leave a Facebook tab open in your browser. If you have notifications turned on in your browser, you should get notifications when receiving a message. The trick here would be remembering to keep that tab open and not closing it. You might also get regular Facebook notifications mixed into this stream, though, which might be undesirable.
Thanks for that. I have installed it and it looks like an improvement.
