Facial hair: yae or nae?

Lots of good advice so far for the aspiring bear owner. Personally I did short stints with and without a beard. Ultimately it was just easier not to have to shave every day. I hated the razor burn I always got on my throat, so this was a decent solution.

Uh, yeah. That would be BEARD owner.

Well, since just about everybody has said “it depends on the person”…

I’m Australian, but my genes are PLAINLY Scottish: I have quasi-albino pale skin (so no issues with tan lines; I DON’T TAN!) and red hair (so no issues with it looking “dirty”; in fact, I still have a remarkable amount of hair that is totally white!)

I also know (from my Dad, grandad and and the rate at which the hair on my head grows) that once it starts growing, it’s not going to stop. I’m going to look like Santa’s freaky Scottish cousin if I don’t ever shave at all.

So what do I do?

Try growing a beard, but trimming it your way…find how long or thick you want it, etc.

I still think that, and I’m nearly a decade older than Ssarl … It does look good on some men, but not so much on really young ones since they tend to grow in rather sparse on the majority of teenage boys- including my brother, another redheaded teenager. It shouldn’t stop you from trying it and seeing how it looks though, right? This is a good time to try it if you’re going to, since you won’t have classmates laughing and pointing if it doesn’t turn out well. You only deserve that if you grow a soul patch :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve seen pics of my clean-shaven boyfriend with a goatee. Like you, he has near-albino skin (our joke is that his butt glows in the dark); the hair on his head is an unfortunately orange brillo-pad, his facial hair is sparse light-reddish-blond, and his body hair is a lovely soft copper.

I’d say, shave, but ultimately the choice is up to you.

I am 30 and have grown a beard out twice in my lifetime. It has never been long or bushy (like Santa, Gandalf, or the Biker of the Apocalypse) but I have never gotten used to it. I remain clean-shaven because I can’t stand the feel of it. It’s itchy. The stray hairs poke my lower lip. Not only that, but it grows in in more a red color than what’s on my head. Don’t like it, can’t get used to it, prefer not to.
