Facial palsy after minor derm surgery...NOT seeking med advice.

On Wed I had a couple of BCC’s surgically removed, one on my hand and a small spot on my face. As the docs are prone to do, they take a ‘ugggge’ chunk to make sure all the cancer is removed.

Since then I have had a facial palsy, with the side affected causing a mouth droop, difficulties with my speech and (to my embarrassment) a bit of drooling.

Just curious to know whether this is a common event post-surgery, and that it will likely get better of its own accord, or whether I should be contacting my doc ASAP before my next scheduled appointment on Thursday this week.

Cheers. <------that’s what my mouth looks like. :stuck_out_tongue:

Dentist not an MD, but yes call right away. Most of them in dentistry resolve usually in a few days however it can take longer or not resolve at all. Ones that don’t resolve are usually the result of wisdom tooth extractions. Of course don’t know your situation but it could be possible to hit the trigeminal nerve from the surface.

I would call. I guess it is possible that it residual anesthesia from the local. I would think some sort of nerve involvement is more likely. And last, and hopefully least likely, that is a dead on description of a stroke.
