Fahrenheit 9/11 could expand to 2000 theaters soon

I wanted to make this a separate thread for those who haven’t seen the movie because it’s not playing in their area, and so haven’t been reading the spoiler-filled threads.
According to this Yahoo article taken from Variety magazine (which explains the silly insider slang):

Pic will add screens Wednesday and Friday, and yet another expansion is planned for July 9. Lions Gate (news - web sites), which is distributing the pic with the Bob and Harvey Weinstein-Michael Moore concern Fellowship Adventure Group and IFC, will release specific figures on the expansion today. “We were already getting calls from theaters begging for prints,.” Lions Gate prexy Tom Ortenberg said Friday.

IFC prexy Jonathan Sehring said, “Harvey said he thought we could be on more than 2,000 within a week or two.”

Btw, the name “Fellowship Adventure Group” is a tweak at Michael Eisner, since Disney wouldn’t give Miramax the money to give Peter Jackson so he could make 2 Lord of the Rings movies, which caused Jackson to go to New Line, who gave him money to make 3 LOTR films, which made a zillion dollars and won nearly that many awards. Once again, with F9/11, Disney has let something of value go to someone else. It’s pretty snarky of Moore and the Weinsteins, but funny.

I can’t dig up a reference for this, but I believe Moore was quoted as saying, “I’m thrilled to be teaming up with Spider-Man to fight evil in our society.”
