This question is regarding an episode featuring a woman nicknamed “Beaker” and a computer geek type guy with glasses and long curly hair who wore only anime shirts. His hair was given to “Locks of Love” and he got to meet the little girl who received his hair. I’m being as descriptive as possible so that someone may be able to remember this.
“Beaker” is nervous before her plastic surgery and calls her husband for support. She says something about being scared and needing luck. The response, which can be heard by the viewing audience, is “Good luck, honey. You will do fine.” (which, by itself, is somewhat of an odd, stilted thing for the love of your life to say.) It’s totally a manufactured voice. There is absolutely no mistaking it for a real voice. I just started laughing. What on earth could possibly be the reason for this? They couldn’t get the husband to answer? They couldn’t just show her side of the conversation. This is beyond me! Any ideas? Did anyone else actually catch this?
Didn’t see it, but I do have friends who work in reality TV (not that show, but similar). It’s all 80 percent crap. It sounds like they didn’t get the answer they wanted from him (or it was too garbled, they lost some audio, whatever) and they couldn’t get him to record something in post, or didn’t have time, so they manufactured something themselves. usually they just say, ‘That was good. Now, this time can you say"Good luck honey"?’ Phone calls and anyone arriving anywhere (i.e. opening a front door) are all shot and re-shot 'til the term ‘reality’ loses all meaning.
Is it possible they were just disguising his voice? Maybe for whatever reason they need his permission to put his voice on the show and couldn’t get it?
