Falcon and the Winter Soldier (Spoilers)

Um. But that is what we got. That angle you provided doesn’t show it off very well, so…

Here is the comics version of Sam Wilson’s Cap, compared with the TV series.

Is it? I’m not disagreeing with you, I’m honestly curious where you learned this or what leads you to this conclusion.

Thanks. I guess it just looks better in the comic. I felt it looked kind of cheesy/corny in the show. I’m just happy he’s Captain America, though.

I’m a veteran. I’ve had actual military training. The hand-to-hand combat training I got was perfunctory. I got a lot of training in shooting people. Most of the hand-to-hand combat training that does exist in the military is much more about building confidence and aggression than it is about winning a fist fight.

Now, I wasn’t in the Infantry, much less special operations, like John Walker was supposed to have been. And I was never actually in combat. But I’ve served with guys who were. They do get more than perfunctory hand-to-hand combat training, but it’s far from the focus of their training. In the real world, guns beat knives 100% of the time. If you’re unarmed and someone is pointing a gun at you, you don’t disarm them, you surrender, because in the real world, you get shot. Hand-to-hand combat is a very niche application in real-world combat. And every hour you spend on hand-to-hand combat training and practice is an hour you’re not spending on training and practice in other skills.

Pretty much all comic book outfits look cheesy in real life. I’m glad they’re embracing it. No more X-Men in black leather.
