Fallout 3

Nother question for the console code geeks.

I’ve bought the home lab and it’s pretty much useless. I’ve decided I can better use that space so I need to get rid if the table. The dame I bought it from won’t buy it back so I’m pretty much stuck with it right now.

I don’t care about getting the caps back, I just want the table gone.

So is anyone else decorating their ‘home’?

I don’t mean buying one of the packaged deals from what’s-her-name. I’m talking about using bits and pieces of stuff you can carry to give it that lived in feeling.

Try opening the console, click on it and type disable.

And other odd things seen in the wasteland.

I saw a deathclaw several hundred yards off ravaging a heard of brahmin. Pulled up the sniper rifle and popped it in the head. It starts running at me and jumps while still way far away. And I do mean jump. It hit an altitude over a hundred feet and I VATed it with the sniper rifle. While it was paused I was thinking, Okay, do these things have some sort of super jump?

I decided to let it close the range and just finish it with the shotgun so I dropped the VAT to let it finish the jump. Umm, yeah. That worked on paper. The DC just kept going up until it disappeared into the clouds. Best guess at that point was alien abduction via tractor beam. I carry on and take out a couple of yai guai and pick up some odds and ends when suddenly I’m being attacked from behind. It appears to be the same DC from before based on the existing damage. Finish killing it and collect my trophy.

Wierd.

More skeletons. Found two in the yard beside a house. One with baseball and glove and the other with a glove.

The only time I met Cherry was when she was fleeing some raiders, and they killed her before I could save her. I had been trekking across the wasteland for a bit, and I didn’t know who she was…

What is the associated quest?

Cherry can get you a key that Mr. Crowley wants.

Interesting thing.

So I saved the captive being held by the Supermutants in the little fortified area between the Jefferson Monument and Rivet City. However, at this point, I’m almost overloaded, so I figure I’ll come back and loot the corpses after I sell off a bit at Rivet City. I’ve done it before, and no problems.

After selling I see the junk caravan guy exiting the little fortified area, and I discover that all the corpses are gone.

The Fucker looted my kills, apparently.

Ah- thanks. I just speech’ed him…

I have no idea if this’ll work or not, but you could try this in the console: “player.removeitem 7c127 1”.

It’s possible you may have to have the item in your inventory for it to work, and it’s also possible it won’t work at all. There, that should leave my arse fairly well covered:p

This is a pretty good place to go for console thingies. Links in the first post are also useful.

Tried that, and the table disappeared leaving the glassware floating in midair. Clicked on the glassware and typed disable. Nothing happened. Maybe I’ll figure out how to stuff a table back under it later.

Nada. But thanks for the link. I’ll do a bit more research, maybe even ask Bethesda.

I’d really like to get rid of it so I can put in a gnome bowling alley.

Think it’s a known bug that can occur when deathclaws are obstructed while trying to reach you. I had a similar experience; I snipe a deathclaw, it comes after me, then flies vertically up into the air and vanishes. I edged forward nervously, nothing bad happened.

Then, I get another “red stripe” on my HUD; since I’m near the deathclaw sanctuary I assume it’s back, or another one. Edge forward, whee, deathclaw shoots straight up into the sky. And again. And again. And again.

After a while I just got bored and wandered off.

Oh - my latest problem - how to play a “good” character and break into Fort Independence. I tried it as a bad character and went in guns blazing; there’s a nice storeroom with a couple of mini-nukes and a minigun, and all of the soldiers in there carry laser rifles, missile launchers and powered armour.

Unfortunately I can’t seem to find a way to get in while playing nice. I’ve even tried the slightly less evil route of picking the lock on the back door and using plenty of Stealth Boys, but there are enough soldiers in there that that’s a non-starter.

Is fort indendence the place where the Outcasts have their base?

Yes, that’s the one. I just can’t find a way in without resorting to violence or burglary-leading-to-violence.

Talk to Casdin, you’ll be asked to collect samples of technology to give him. Trade enough tech to him, and you’ll be permitted to enter the Fort without being attacked (you’ll still need to lockpick it, but there will be no karma penalty)

I did all the collecting stuff, spoke to him, picked the lock and everyone inside was really friendly. When I went back outside, Casdin went nuts and came after me. I ran up to the raiders and let them handle him.

hey, does anyone know if it’s possible to save the old lady while escaping the vault? do you have to tell Butch to go to hell to make it happen or what?

Yeah, you can easily save Butch’s mom, if that’s what you mean. Just tell him that you’ll do it (for whatever reason) then follow him and kill the radroaches. Butch and his mom will act like you’re best pals after that.

If you’re referring to old lady whatsherface who gives you a sweetroll, 'fraid not, she’s scripted to always be dead on the canteen floor.

Aw, man. But what’s the point of that?
Also, do you have a source for that? A friend of mine said he managed to save her, somehow.

if you’re the lazy type and still have the BB gun, you can always hand that over to him, as well. He’ll go do it for you.

Also, once you’ve said you’ll help him, you can’t shoot her in the head while he’s trying to save her.
