That makes sense. I’ll look there.

I have to select them every time which is kind of a pain. BTW, the mod to expand your house in Megaton is really expensive…but worth it IMHO. It looks way cool. Don’t want to spoil anything for anyone who may use it, but you get lots of goodies (especially if you have a high lockpick skill) plus some cool visual things. Lots of storage too if you are like me and like to categorize your loot.

FOMM - Fallout Mod Manager, also available at Nexus. It’s a launcher that lists all your available mods with checkboxes plus you can modify their load order and various other such things.
What do you mean by expensive? The Mods are free to download. Isn’t this one?
The only Mod I’ve got any pleasure from is the level-cap mod (increase max level to 30 from 20) I haven’t had a proper look, but the ones I have looked at didn’t appeal to me.
Cool…thanks! I’ll check it out.
The upgrade will set you back 6000+ caps (about what the Gauss rifle costs btw IIRC). It’s of course free to download.
I’m loving every mod I’m currently using. The new house expansion mod is way cool, as is the new 20 songs (though I’m having some problems occasionally…3 Dog will go “And now for some music!” and there will be dead air time for about a minute before songs start playing again). There are some very good mods out there that have made the game a lot better IMHO.

That’s unusal for a downloadable Mod to actually cost caps. I have around 23,000 caps so I could afford it though
Yeah I had about that much…before paying for first the Gauss rifle and then the house expansion. Worth it though and I still have about 10k caps.

Anyone else having a periodic problem with the mouse seemingly going TU during a game? It seems pretty random…I’ll just be wandering about and then the mouse and key board stop working in game (though I can still Alt-Tab out and the mouse and key board work fine there). I figure it must be some problem with one of the mods I loaded at some point…I think maybe it’s either the additional songs mod or maybe the one that lets my skills go over 100.

TU - Tits Up?
Not me. But I do lose the mouse when the game crashes. Which makes clicking ‘ok’ on the ‘your stupid game has crashed again’ windows dialog box rather difficult.
Yeah, it’s been happening for a while here too. I generally can Alt-Tab out and then shut down the game…but it’s annoying. Hoping someone here has the same problem and figured out how to fix it.
And yes…TU=Tits Up.

It is pretty cool. Although it does feel a bit like cheating to lock in on head shots a thousand yards out. There is something very satisfying about seeing a Super Mutant’s head blow up from a shotgun blast to the face.
Really the only thing I think the game is missing is:
I just realized that I want to see a Jagged Alliance 3 game based on a modified Fallout 3 engine. And I want it to have both standalone mode with good merc AI and also (of course) a killer multiplayer mode. I want the JA tactical mode to be like VATS except you get a 3-D isometric view to plan and time and aim your attacks, and I want a SWAT 4-type ability to command AI mercs on the fly as well.
And I definitely want Ivan in the game: “Shitbag! I use ALL the ammunition for VEAPON!”
There are two scoped weapons that I know of, but I wouldn’t call them decent.
There’s the sniper rifle (misses 100 percent of the time, even at short range, in VATS)
And the scoped 44 magnum (better, but really only any good at medium/close range)
The sniper rifle is OK if you don’t use VATS and you have a bit of actual aiming skill.
edit: If the sniper rifle is in low condition it will behave like it is badly in need of a [what’s it called when you correct the aim of a weapon?]. In other words the bullet will come out at 15 degrees off the paralel of the barel. You’ll see the shot go off to the left or right or just not where you were aiming.
Another annoying thing about this game is sometimes, you’ll appear to have a clear line-of-sight to the target, you go into VATS, and then you shoot five plasma shots at a wall or the invisible leaves on a tree.
Well, that and evidently nobody has invented a gun you can really shoot anything with if it’s far away that you can’t feel its hot breath on your neck. I’m holding something called a “hunting rifle”, but if I was relying on it to take down a deer I’d starve to death, unless the deer were really curious about people.
The hunting rifle is one of the rubbishest weapons in the game. The only rubbisher weapons (not counting your fists and melee weapons) are the chinese pistol, and the bb gun.
I tell you, if my dad’s friends had deer coming as close as these Raiders I’m trying to shoot with the damned thing they’d throw a party. Somehow they get venison from the freezer, though.
If you have over 4K caps laying about I highly encourage you to get the Gauss rifle mod. It’s definitely the best sniper rifle in the game and it’s not ridiculously over powered. It’s expensive and the ammo is a bit pricey (and you can only get it from the woman at Crater Side supply in Megaton…same with the gun itself btw), but it’s worth it. It degrades very slowly (I’m still using my first one and it’s only a little degraded) and it packs quite a punch.
If not then you are down to the Sniper Rifle as the dubious best sniping weapon in the game. The .308 round is pretty decent, but it’s a bit weak IMHO. Wish someone would make a .50 Cal sniper rifle, but there isn’t any .50 Cal ammo in this game anyway so it would be a fairly major mod I guess. Still, would be cool.

BTW, for anyone interested, I finally figured out which mod was causing the mouse problem. It was the pair of mods I was using that modified the song list to include 20 new songs. I’m not sure if this totally fixed things, but I played for several hours yesterday without having the mouse and key board freeze.
One weird side effect though was that it reset my exps back to the start of the previous level which kind of sucked…lost about 8k of experience there.
Oh, picked up a new mod as well that improves powered armor somewhat…I thought it was pretty ridiculous that Brotherhood and Enclave soldiers in power armor could be killed by raiders and such. Besides, it’s kind of nice to have the enhances armor for myself.

On the matter of rifle accuracy, there are several mods which tweak this, I presume for increased accuracy. I’m not using them - my second game (first was totally vanilla) I’ve gone straight energy weapons and I find the laser rifle very usable at longish ranges. The only issue is keeping MFC stocked. But even the laser pistol suffices against raiders and their ilk, and energy cells are easy to come by.
Finally finished Fallout 3. After spending so much time just tooling around in the Wasteland, when I decided to hit the main plot again, it seemed to end almost too quickly.
That said, any hardship I went through in the game was made worth it with Liberty Prime. The only way that could have been better would be if he picked something up and knocked a Vertibird out of the sky with it.
