I dreamt about fallout last night too! It was my first one.
I dreamt I was barricaded in the basement of a house and outside are raiders. I’m not a vault dweller I’m just an ordinary house dweller, and I have no weapons on me. Just a not-very-well barricaded basement, and a main house with too many windows. (All the raiders see me as soon as I venture out of the basement and begin to converge on the house. At this point I wake up)
The raiders are also unoffical police officers (they have ‘dirty pre-war’ police swat-team uniforms) And I think they’re feral too if I remember correctly.
When I read the bit about being able to mentally control the dog, I was reminded of Lucid Dreaming. In proper lucid dreams one of the things you do is control its characters and create and remove characters. If you are a particularly good lucid dreamer you can bring anyone you like into your dream.
When I was able to LD (going back many years this!) all I could ever do was move through solid objects, though it required immense mental effort to do so. I could fly too, but immediately experienced the ‘falling’ sensation (like when you’re in a car and it goes over a small peak in the road too fast - you momentarily experience nearer zero g-force) and I wake up.
I could never make them last longer than a minute or so.
Well, my cow-orkers have been giving me strange looks as I walk around singing the bingo, bango bongo song. I can’t help it…I’m so happy in the jungle I refuse to go…
I’ve tried out the weapons/armor repair mod…no idea how I lived without it all this time now. It’s pretty good being able to repair stuff with scrap metal as you wander around instead of having to bring along several weapons of the same type (and sets of armor) to keep your stuff up to speed while crawling through the wasteland or some old decrepit building. I’m thinking of trying out this mod tonight called Death Canyon. Sounds pretty cool.
A question for anyone who has been in the L.O.B (I think) corporate offices…is there any way to find the evacuation tunnels or was that just a plot device? I’ve been all through the basement where they supposedly are but didn’t see any sign of them. Picked up the named weapon in the CEO’s office but that seems to be all there was in the building.
That was all I found too. Some rather amusing tidbits on the computers, like the ZOMG THEY’RE HERE! email followed by a “Just because the world is ending doesn’t mean you can use allcaps.”
I just went through Vault-Tec headquarters, and there was one saying “Due to abuse of the generous company bathroom break policy, all bathroom breaks have been reduced from 2.37 minutes to 2.25 minutes.” And then there’s the guy who got locked up in the basement of the Nuka-Cola plant for leaving the seat up in a co-ed bathroom. One wonders if there have been issues at Bethesda or something.
I just remembered another part of my dream; after I asked the Researcher if we were looking at Vault 1 and she laughed it off, I laughed and said something along the lines of, “I bet the PipBoy 1 doesn’t do anything but tell the time in different time zones!”
Lobsang, I do think that I occasionally have what might be lucid dreaming episodes; in this particular case I think there was a point where I realized it was a dreamworld around the time that the weird guys from the chase car deflated.
OMG…that Death Canyon mod is tough. Don’t even attempt it if you aren’t level 20 and don’t have a shit load of stimpaks and the best weapons in the game. I just trotted in all big and bad in my power armor and got my ass handed to me. I didn’t die, but it was a very close thing…and my armor was totally trashed before I even got through the gate.
That reminds me. The Pip-boy you get given is an “older model”. I wonder what the newest model does.
edit: Have you been to the bit of the game where your ‘pit boy’ does nothing more than tell the time? (in your own time-zone)
Had another Fallout dream last night; this time it was me and a bunch of friends barricaded in a house and there were Raiders trying to get in. Not so specific as the previous dream, but it kinda fits.
This just in: blowing up Vertibirds with a gatling laser is loads of fun for everyone except any Enclave troops standing anywhere nearby when the thing goes off.
Hitting one with a missile with a bunch of raiders around it is quite fun as well…
If you guys want a waking dream/nightmare then try out that Death Canyon mod. Fair warning…the ‘raiders’ are tougher than Enclave troopers and shoot a lot better.
I just realized…I haven’t seen the White House in the game. :smack: I assume it’s there somewhere but I’ve never been there. Is it worth going to look for it? Anything interesting there?
