Shoot them in the Head was one of the last ones I did. And I sort of fell into the quest by accident (I’d already got one of the keys before I even initiated the quest)
I didn’t shoot any of them in the head. I spoke nicely to them and got the keys that way. I kept the keys for myself and went to the place where the keys unlock doors (can’t remember its name)
I figured it was ok because the person you get the quest from is evil.
The quest completed when I got into the
room with the special armour - which isn’t all that special to be honest
I have a mod that will make it better which is why I’m hunting for it. Sort of like the named CAR mod. I have the key also…if that will end the quest I’ll just go hunt for the armor. I know where it’s at (in a general sort of way…I know the location anyway).
Jury Street Metro, incidentally, is also where you can find the Molerat Wonder Meat Machine, a device that lets you combine mole rat meat with wonder glue (!) to make Mole Rat Wonder Meat, which is much better for you than many of the consumables you can find/kill.
IIRC, it has the same stats as 'lurk meat. Them ‘lurks is good eatin’, just like Granny Sparkles says!
That said, I generally find lots enough stimpaks that I have no need for food. I tried one of the hunger/thirst/sleep mods to make food and water actually matter, but it was intrusive and clunky enough to be unfun so I got rid of it. Somehow it must be possible to find a balance there, but I haven’t seen it yet.
Yeah, Stimpacks, after a while, seem to be something I wouldn’t exactly describe as rare. But then, in Fallout 3, everything is damned near impossible to get enough of until you get enough of it, then you can get all you want. Basically, once you pass that threshhold where you can take on most groups of bad guys you encounter (Talon Co. is always great for some free loot:cool:)
By the time I finished the game, I had 160+ stimpacks, and was still finding more everywhere I went.
Stimpacks? I hardly use them. Since I loot everything I kill, I typically am returning to my house to stash useful loot often enough, and I bought my self a home medical station, that unless I take a lot of damage or get hit by an exploding car and have to repair a limb or something, I hardly ever use them.
My main complaint of this game is it’s too easy. I guess now that I’ve capped (and have done probably only about 1/3 to 1/2 of the game–I’m pretty much going everywhere) I can probably set he difficulty to the hardest setting since I no longer have to worry about leveling faster.
There are a couple of mods that make things a bit more difficult. They tweak the abilities of the mobs, and increase the spawn rate as well as the mob density. If you are really feeling unchallenged I again suggest that Death Canyon mod (on high difficulty).
You know how water heals you in this game? You ever notice how the DC area still has running water in almost every building? That helps a lot too. Unlimited healing.
I drink the sink water all the time, and I’ve only gotten Radiation Sickness once or twice. RadAway is a real quick fix for that. Besides, it’s like 8 rads to 24 HP; totally worth it in my book.
The only time I have gotten seriously sick from radiation was when I was trying to explore some crashed plane or rocket or something in DC (near Metro Center I think). The radiation down where the thing was at was like 25 Rad…I almost didn’t get back up out of the crater alive and I had taken anti-radiation drugs before going down and was in rad resistant power armor. No idea what, if anything is actually down there…haven’t been back to try it out in god mode. I doubt I could live long enough to find anything otherwise.
Nope…wasn’t that. Looked like some kind of rocket ship or advanced fighter plane. No idea what it was. May go back one of these days to check it out.
Well, I finally managed to chug through all the hoops to get the T-51B armor. There was one door down there I couldn’t open which sucked. Supposedly there is a dead character named Tara you are supposed to find down there with the final key but damned if I could find her.
The armor was fairly underwhelming (it actually has 5 less DR than my old prototype medic armor) but with the mod I loaded it’s got some interesting features and basically does what the old medic armor did plus a few new features.
Going to load the mod I mentioned earlier that lets you play beyond the final quest and see how that works out when I get back from my next business trip. Really need to get me a decent gaming laptop one of these days…
Might have been the UFO? “Recon Craft Theta”, I think it is. There’s a distress signal that your radio picks up, and you can find the Alien Blaster and some power cells there. The whole wreck is incredibly radioactive, and it’s also a random encounter, so it could be pretty much anywhere.
I’d guess you’re thinking about the crashed fighter plane in Vernon Square. Looks a lot like the space craft in the Museum of Technology, actually. There’s a sewer entrance at the bottom, with a very irradiated sewer. Not too big, but I still went through Radaways every 10 or so seconds. Made combat interesting.
Has anyone found the dead couple researching ghouls?
