Fallout 3

So, anyone planning on getting the DLC later this month?

What does that perk do?

Then, after you do that, give some purified water to the beggar on the pier. Positive karma!

Wired Reflexes is +10% chance to hit in VATS.

So…the patch is out to prepare for the release of the first content release on the 27th. Anyone downloaded it yet? Any issues?

I downloaded it. I don’t appear to have any technical issues, though the Bethsoft forums have numerous complaints of some Windows Live update that’s part of the patch breaking people’s saved games. However, my current character seems to have forgotten how to fire a laser rifle. Maybe it’s my imagination, but accuracy in VATS seems like it’s way down. Which is weird, because I can’t imagine that they’d have messed with that sort of thing.

I have the patch installed and am noticing no difference in VATS accuracy… have you checked your character’s limb status? Crippled arms and/or head can have a major effect on VATS accuracy. Sleep in a bed or click the limb on the status page to inject a Stimpak and “repair” the damage.

Must you non-PS3 owners rub it in?:mad:

Now, I might be reading too much into this, but Gamespot’s article on the upcoming expansions mentions that the third expansion pack will “expand the main game and increase the level cap to 30”.

Which would suggest that you can keep playing after the end of the current Main Quest with your character somehow, presumably either because someone else activated Project Purity, or perhaps activating it doesn’t kill you, or something like that.

Anyway, I’ll be interested to see what they do with the expansions…

Or it could simply mean that they’re adding areas and quests to complete before you finish the main quest, necessitating a new game (or at least, hopefully, just not yet finishing the main quest.)

According to Jeff Gardiner, that’s exactly right.

Hyuk hyuk! I love my PC.

Apparently the level progress from 20-30 will be a lot slower. Wonder what the titles will be? Where do you go from ‘Last, Best Hope of Humanity’?

“Last, Best Hope of Humanity… and We Really Mean it This Time!”

What was that line from Tropic Thunder? ‘And no one expected it…again!’

So, for my character, not really much of a perk, considering I had a 95% chance to hit, better criticals, lots of hit points (I can do five with the plasma. Usually the first 1 or 2 do the job) and the grim reaper perk.

That Grim Reaper perk is definitely a must have.

Well… unless you attack from outside your optimal range, in which case an extra 10% goes a long way.

I can usually get close enough to make a tasty meat-based sandwich spread of the enemy

(If you like glowing green goo on your sandwiches)

I’ve actually found the Bloody Mess perk to be kind of a pain in the ass. While it gives you decent bonus to hit and damage wise it blows the bodies into small squishy chunks. That’s fine if there is only one mob, but if there is a room full it’s kind of hard to loot all the bodies.

Plus you track in all kinds of nasty stuff into your house afterward and your shoes really start to smell…

On my first play through I got the bloody mess perk for the sheer entertainment value. On the second play through I didn’t bother with it. The bonus to damage is minimal, and like you say the bodies are strewn everywhere.

It’s interesting though that you can get the entire inventory of an NPC just be searching a small piece of body that ended up 50 yards from the rest of the body.

And I personally got to the point in the game where I wouldn’t bother searching the bodies of certain NPCs. Particularly supermutants, who would typically have the ‘stick with a nail in it’ and nothing else. And raiders would annoyingly have a bit of ammo, and some raider apparel which I definitely don’t want. It would make re-searching annoying because you’d go to a body that isn’t empty, and search it, and remember you’ve already got everything you want from this body.

It is also annoying how you can’t do a ‘take all’ on most things because something rubbish is always included in the list, and you don’t want it because it will only add dead weight.
