No, I’ve got heaps of guns, just the hunting rifle is a favorite. The sniper rifle was too rare, so since I only have one, it’s condition is really crappy and I don’t use it much. I like the scoped pistol, and I use that sometimes too. But,… I guess I’m just a sentimental guy and me and my hunting rifle have so many good memories together of sneak kills. I’m taking it to bed with me tonight and we’ll be all like, "Do you remember that time the mutant at the bridge was attacking the raider party and we sat and watched from the rocky plateau while he killed them all, and when he was finished we moved in a little closer and blew his fucking brains all over the concrete? Ahhh… I’m tearing up a bit here.
Memories,
Like the corners of your brain
Misty reddish-colored memories
Of the way we were
Scattered cranial plates,
Of the mutants we left behind…
Wasn’t the DLC also supposed to break the level cap?
I am still maxed out at level 20 and don’t want to finish the game just yet as there are lots of places I haven’t visited or discovered yet, but the lack of progress is a bit of a bummer.
I picked this up about two weeks ago and am digging it. Best Buy had the collector’s edition, the one with the lunch box and the bobble head figure, for the same price as the regular game. I picked it up on a whim and I am glad I did.
This game is everything I thought Bioshock would be. I was so disappointed with Bioshock. It felt too much like work and was no fun at all, at least to me. Fallout 3 is the opposite of that. I’ve ended up playing for three hours straight and not even realizing it.
That is pretty awesomely stupid.
After you have finally completed the entire game and all DLC you finally get to reach level 30?
Then I might as well finish the game now and not wait for Broken Steel.
I don’t know about anyone else’s experience, but I hit level 20 in the middle of “Operation Anchorage” last night, and then when I was back in the real world, I did something experience-gaining and saw my progress bar inching toward Level 21…so I think that the level cap is gone? I was surprised, because I thought it wasn’t coming until the third DLC.
I’m about to hit 20 and I’m nowhere near the end of anything (on a PS3). I’ve been having more fun exploring and hoarding than completing missions, but I’ll yell if I’m not able to advance further.
I suggest finishing one game then when you add Broken Steel you’ll have first-hand knowledge of what was changed to make the continuing storyline work.
No, there isn’t much point in getting this DLC.
It consists of a couple of, in my opinion, badly written missions that do not add anything to the storyline.
In the end of it you do get a nice new power-armor but that is all there is to it.
It took me about 2 hours to finish it and let’s just say I am feeling a bit underwhelmed.
Having just completed the Anchorage DLC tonight, I’d second that view. The missions are repetitive and the plot fairly dry and humourless. There’s a limited range of weapons and the “reward room” at the end, while nice for a few new toys, doesn’t make it feel less humdrum. It’s not awful, just feels like a very linear shooter.
Bumping because I returned to the game and started a completely new character last month. Yeah, I’ve been wandering around the DC ruins during this hot mess of an election.
I replayed 3, New Vegas and 4 back-to-back-to-back a few months ago. I have very fond memories of exploring the map in Fallout 3, but it didn’t have the same level of interest for me this time around. In particular, I thought the Mothership Zeta and Operation Anchorage addons were tedious to play through, even though I really enjoyed them at the time.
I will take the opposite position of Mahaloth and say that Fallout 4 is the best of the three games. In fact, I ended up playing through it twice in a row, I enjoyed it so much. The only (huge) mark against Fallout 4 in my opinion was the frequent crashes (on my Xbox One).
Fallout 3: mediocre (and short) main story, lots of interesting things to discover while exploring
Fallout New Vegas: OK main story, few interesting things to discover while exploring
Fallout 4: OK main story, lots of interesting things to discover while exploring
Steam says I have just shy of 2600 hours in 4; dunno about 3, I upgraded computers a while back and would have to add up the hours in all my characters’ saves to check.
Yeah, I played through each ending in 4 at least once; most recently built the teleporter with Sturgis, switched to the Railroad, supported the Brotherhood at Mass Fusion, then led the Minutemen’s invasion.
Are you including the DLCs in that count? Because I think 3 of the 4 NV DLCs are mostly top notch and possibly add more than any other set of DLCs to any other the game*. The exception being Dead Money which is challenging in an entirely tedious way.
*Witcher 3 DLCs are also mostly great, but I think the core game is good and varied enough in that one. I think the NV DLCs arguably are closer to true MVPs for the core game.
First thing I did was find a mod to disable that stupid exploding collar. My reflexes are no longer fast enough to get out with my head still attached; I’m not sure they ever were.
