Speaking of, this is my favorite webpage for scanning perks. Nicely set up.
A really useful perk tree would be one that gives bonuses when aiming down the sights (not scope) of a weapon. Something like:
Tier 1: Move more quickly while LDS.
Tier 2: Bring up your sights and reload more quickly while LDS.
Tier 3: Do x more damage while LDS.
Tier 4: Do x more damage to limbs while LDS.
This would be a good perk for people who want to use rifles without being a sniper.
Apparently the new patch disables mods. There’s a couple workarounds (I believe the simplest is loading directly from the .exe since the launcher is what disables them) but I’m not home to test and advocate for any of them.
Obviously, Bethesda is allowing modding of FO4 but I don’t think it’s officially supported until the official tools come out. I have no idea if the current disabling is intentional or just a side effect of people jumping the gun on modding. Still, if I can’t play with my installed mods, my interest level is going to take a rapid dive.
I’m already at the point where I’m basically waiting for mods to fix some of the issues I have with the game, such a settlement management. I think that the GECK or whatever they are calling it is due to come out the first quarter of next year, so I’m probably on hold until then, though I might finish off the main quest line before that…or I might wait and re-roll.
Supposedly, making make your ‘loadorder.txt’ and ‘plugins.txt’ files “read only” before launching will also prevent the disabling. Again, I haven’t tried it personally. You would need to make those files writable before installing any new mods, of course.
On the reddit Fallout lore sub, I caught this reference to the player character in 4
Is there some question about it? I wouldn’t be surprised if Bethesda dropped a few hints through the game that “Deckard is a replicant!” If there are any, though, I haven’t noticed them.
Nah, and (plot spoiler ahead)
Father’s computer logs make it pretty clear that he’s excited and nervous about meeting his pops.
Well, if the Sole Survivor is a synth, then I must be a “Fully Functional” one. Piper and I have been doing the horizontal mambo for several nights now…
No, but I was dismayed to learn the horrible truth about:
Paladin Danse. I did the persuasion dialogue options that allowed him to live, but nonetheless disgraced and permanently exiled from the Brotherhood. I think for him, the execution is the more merciful option.
I did the horizontal lambada with a female NPC only to find out she is a synth.
Given that she is made from Shaun’s DNA, she is my grandchild in a sense. I hate when game designers spring surprise incesticating on you.
Piper is my favorite because… well, ROMANCE.
But Strong is who I take when I’m just going to be killing shit.
He saved me from a Deathclaw attack. He hit it with a super-sledge and it literally exploded into pieces.
Also… are we spoiler tagging major points or is it open spoilers? I’m getting deeper into the main plot now and don’t want casual spoilers.
Looks as though people are spoiler-tagging plot points which is how I prefer it. Preferably with a hint as to what’s being spoilered like “Spoiler for The Big Dig:” so you have an idea if it’s safe to read or not.
I find that being able to knock people down with sniper shots just means I have to wait to shoot them again if I didn’t finish them off in one shot. Crap! Yeah, that one guy can’t run me down for a little while, but he’s got friends.
The blitz perk is a disappointment. I thought it was going to show some sort of cool charge animation, but instead you just magically teleport close to your target. You can exploit it in very unimmserive ways like warping up to a roof to attack a guy standing 15 feet above you.
After a couple deaths to robot self destruct I now have a visceral reaction to run away when something falls over but isn’t dead.
I had this happen to me a few days ago, and I ended up looking up a console command to find him;
prid 0001d162
moveto player
Cheers. But late to fire it up now, so I’ll try this tomorrow.
Is there a practically infinite number of smoke artillery grenades? I am rather fond of calling in uncle Arty.
How do you tell if a human is hostile at a distance? I accept that sometimes, you can’t know. In the case of raiders though, it ought to be possible to tell who’s a raider and who’s not. I have a scoped rifle.
Would a recon scope tell me who’s hostile?
Just target them with VATS. If they are hostile they will be red, if they are friendly they will be whatever your HUD color is (technically you can also set the HUD to red, but I wouldn’t recommend that).
My recon scope “tags” things that I focus on but I’ve never played with testing it and seeing if it tags allies or neutrals. Determining “enemies” is sort of hard outside of raiders, super mutants and monsters – I may or may not be looking to attack that Brotherhood of Steel outpost.
Re: Mods, I went with using F4SE to bypass the launcher and all my mods are intect (I was only running three or four). YMMV.
