False death reports

My wife recently received word via the internet (I don’t know whether it was Facebook or somewhere else) that Kathy Bates and Kevin Kostner had died. They both seem to be alive. Anybody else getting “news” like this?

That has become a meme on some You Tube channels. Tell someone their favorite celebrity has passed and record their reaction. Most are painful to watch. The only one I saw that caused me to crack a smile was a guy telling a young gal that Trump had died. She had an over the top melt down. The guy turned the camera to himself and said “The sad part she is not faking this”.

Costner, not Kostner. Someday I really need to learn to spell.
No one is recording my wife watching You Tube. But maybe someone she knows watches You Tube and doesn’t understand it is just a bad joke.

And used for clickbait.

…along with fake reports that a long-dead celebrity is now over 100 years old.

Anything for clicks.

The other day a co-worker gleefully shared about 10 or 15 of these reaction videos. They were cringey-bad.

mmm

Michael J. Fox recently. Still with us.

I heard that Mark Twain has died.

What’s the latest on Generalissimo Francisco Franco?

Still dead.

Cite?

Just yesterday, my husband read somewhere that Sal Volcano from Impractical Jokers had died.

I hate to tell you this but that’s a fake newscast.
