Families

I’m posting this here because it just doesn’t seem suitable for GQ.
Is your family structure a “clan”? To clarify, using my own family as an example; on my mother’s side of my family, I can count just locally, 10 different surnames, and we are all part of the larger Q family. I can travel from coast to coast, or from northern border to southern border and no matter what part of the country I am in, if in need of some sort, there is a branch of the Q family there, regardless of surname, that I can call on for assistance, people I’ve never met or even knew existed. My sister actually was in that situation one time in New York state. So I would say that in my family, there are a bunch of different surnames or families but we all have a genetic link and are part of the “clan” of Qfamily, or Is my Qfamily a clan?

Other additional questions (GQ like in nature), how closely does what I’ve described match clan structure generally? Does clan structure differ greatly from culture to culture? Clan McCleod is structured differently than Clan O’Neil or one of the Kunz families from Germany?
