The only suggestions I can think up are wrestling and swimming, neither of which I would say are really all that popular.

This is hard because it’s team sports - every other popular sport I can think of that isn’t on the board aren’t team sports (golf, stock car racing, boxing, etc). And I don’t know much about sports in the UK minus football/soccer, cricket and rugby being popular.
Is polo that popular in the UK? I’ve never seen it in the US but I might just be too midwestern for that. Bowling is more of an individual thing like golf, minus bowling leagues, but I think pro bowlers lone it. Curling…eh. Only know what it is because of the Olympics. Same with bobsledding. But that is just me.
Can we consider rowing/crew? Dunno how good of an answer it will be, it might be too prep school, but I only do baseball. Field hockey maybe?

I’m leaning towards field hockey. Polo sounds like a good one, but regular or water? A lot of the others are confusing in their definition of team so I’d rather steer away from those.
I reckon field hockey might be a good answer. Polo isn’t widely played here, though.
One thing I did wonder about was the use of British Isles, rather than UK as the location in the question. Does this imply that there is an Irish sport involved? Gaelic football or hurling perhaps.?
Do we have a consensus? Are we close to one? It appears Polo is competing with Field Hockey.
