No DeGaulle? Well, sacre bleu!

Off the top of my head:

Brits: Auchinleck, Wavell, Slim, Brooke, Dempsey, Alexander

Americans: Bedell Smith, Gavin

Canadians: Simonds, Crerar

Chinese: Chang Kai-shek

Polish: Sikorski

Given that DeGaulle and most especially Marshall Zhukov aren’t in the list I doubt that Chang Kai-shek or Sikorski will be but what about a Canadian. If so I’ll vote for Crerar, otherwise Gavin or Brooke.

Can we go back to fast food joints and scientific disciplines?

I have no idea.

Yeesh, my guess was going to be Zhukov, so don’t listen to me!

As it is a weekend, we probably won’t have a concensus until tomorrow night. I will be out most of tomorrow anyway.

I think we will shoot for the answer Sunday night and the next list Monday and then I think **Twickster ** will be taking back over.

Jim

Damn, that was the only other person I knew. Oh well.

If the team thinks that Jim is going to have a Canadian in the list then the only choice is Harry Crerar. If there is the possibility of a second Brit in the list then it should be Alan Brooke (or Auchinleck or Slim or Alexander…Oh gawd this is tough). There are obviously going to be more Americans but I’m totally blanking on further names. Gavin was in command of the 82nd airborne, and whoever was in command of the 101st is a possibility too. Walter Bedell Smith was Eisenhower’s chief of staff.

Who was in charge of the Marines during the island-hopping in the Pacific?

Do Admirals count? There is Admr. Nimitz and we did name something big and expensive after him…
