Double that awww! Thanks for sharing, both Swampy and Shadow. Glad to hear that you had a good time and good food too.
Not sure if I’ll make it in to work tomorrow; it’s going to be below freezing until later in the morning and will most likely be very treacherous. I use public transit and have about 2 blocks to walk from my house to the bus stop–using a cane. I’ll see how it looks tomorrow, but we did get about 2-3 inches of snow and just getting to the bus stop may be too dangerous. You just know I’m all broken up about the possibility of not going to work tomorrow!
I dunno about how well I summed it up. I might have forgotten to mention that we talked and laughed and hugged a lot. I’m bad about leavin’ out those kind of details.
Ya know, IS look at those pics and think, we could be a father and daughter gettin’ together or, a dirty lecherous old man hittin’ on a purty young girl. Or two good friends gettin’ together. Maybe I like the last one better but y’all can decide which one y’all like best.
Haze and Herbs I’m sure I speak for both Shadow and me when I say, y’all can hug both of us anytime, anywhere, any place, for any reason.
OK, time for da bear to say nighty nite.
MWAH Y’all!
Snakes feel free to join in the hugfest. Plus, one of these days I’ll be there. Chef Lee’s…MMMMMMMMMM
Hey everyone, I am back yet again. I got my computer back from the doctor just before 5:00 pm and have been making it my own again. I haven’t made my way through the MMP yet, but hugs, oooh’s and ahhhh’s, and other appropriate sounds to all. We have been having an absurdly warm winter so far, two snowfalls which were very wet and only traces remain. We have had some ridiculous rain and wind though, the last storm ratcheted up from 20 mph winds to 50 mph with 90+ mph gusts, yee fricken haw.
Skiffman is done at the cannery, he scored about 20 lbs of broken king crab legs and clusters for free while helping to clean up after the work was done, (they processed 120,000 lbs of crab in less than a week) plus I have another 20 lbs in the freezer, so when it comes time to eat poor people food this winter we have lots of crab to complement the fish, deer, elk, mountain goat and bear!
Back to setting up the computer the way I like it, I will be back later to share some pics of my granddaughter in her Christmas dress.
Well, I had alot of MMP catching up to do since just yesterday morning.
So I’ve only remembered a couple of comments that I wanted to make.
I absolutely LOVE the pictures of swampy and Shadow.
Li-Li, we do a very nice orange chicken here with orange marmalade. The chicken is baked seasoned with salt, pepper, and rosemary. Then a glaze is made with the marmalade and a bit of oil. And you just pour the glaze over the top and serve. It’s one of my favorites. As a matter of fact, I’m going to be serving something like 30lbs of Orange Chicken today!
Ok, so, I woke up at about 3 this morning. I was at TVMan’s house. And I had this irrational fear that something was wrong at home and I needed to come back. At that point there was nothing else really to do because sleeping was out of the question. So, I came back, drove by my house, and all the lights were THANKFULLY off. Therefore, I continued on to my shop and am trying to now mentally prepare myself for the day ahead. It’s going to be busy.
I signed up for Facebook the other day and found a friend from high school. We’re going to get together when he and his wife come back to Ohio for Christmas. (They live in Arizona.) In the meantime, I was filling him in on the drama that is my life. The email that I got in response was one of the kindest and sweetest that I have received in a long time. He and I have always been pretty good friends. But I’m happy and proud of the really cool and kind and compassionate person that he has become.
I think you were meant for each other (Yes, I know this is wrong on about 17 different levels… that’s the point!)
**Ali **-- yay on graduation! Boo on the accident Although I guess no fault, bodily damage, no out-of-pocket expenses is the least awful accident experience you could suffer… glad it wasn’t worse!
**Rigs **-- you down on yourself again? C’mon, cheer up, things could get worse… (cue things getting worse as we speak… )
Hey, you’re my age. That means you can’t be old yet…
And yay on teaching #1 son how to snow-drive.
I actually got to do that on my own (I learned how to drive – from zero to license – over a three-week Christmas vacation, in Boston [late 1981-early1982]. Almost failed my test because of an ice-bank along the sidewalk, jutting onto the street…)
**GT **-- none of the holidays in Israel are commercialized to an extent even remotely approaching what I’ve seen in the US. With the possible exception of Passover, maybe, sorta, kinda… so it’s no wonder Hanukkah isn’t all that commercial, either.
Woo hoo, I made the top of the 5th page (even though I didn’t know it until too late to ETA it in the post :p).
Thanks for the hugs, Swampy - they really were very nice pics of you and Shadow. And hugs to SCL, just because.
I did decide to not go in today - it’s way too icy and cold outside, and I just wouldn’t be able to get around safely enough. If that makes any sense! IOW, I’m very afraid of slipping and falling. I don’t know exactly how I’m going to get in tomorrow, but I will be at work tomorrow. It will probably still be icy, but maybe the sidewalks will be better cleared (I’m in the suburbs, though, and work in the 'burbs too, so many sidewalks don’t get cleared. :().
SO, how in the world did you ever accomplish getting your license in the winter in Boston?! Congrats to you, though, because that -is- an accomplishment! But aren’t you glad that you don’t have to deal with winter like that now?
Welcome back Kai! Glad to hear that your computer is fixed and looking forward to seeing the pic of your grandbaby in her Christmas dress. And woo hoo about all that crab meat!! Argh about the high winds, though – they scare me!
Welp, I’m a gonna laze about today just 'cause I can. Good luck with all your baking/cooking today, CutiePie; that orange chicken sounds really delicious, I’ll have to try it soon, so thanks for sharing it.
Rigs, you should feel flattered that they named the dog after you!
A joke for those of us feeling old:
An elderly gentleman had serious hearing problems for a number of years. He went to the doctor and the doctor was able to have him fitted for a set of hearing aids that allowed the gentleman to hear 100%.
The elderly gentleman went back in a month to the doctor and the doctor said, “Your hearing is perfect. Your family must be really pleased that you can hear again.”
The gentleman replied, “Oh, I haven’t told my family yet. I just sit around and listen to the conversations. I’ve changed my will three times!”
Morning, all! At work, just doin’ the dope before I have to put together twenty sets of a document and then run up to kinkos for spiral binding. We have a hot binding machine here at work but the boss likes the spiral bind better.
shadow, do you realize how lucky you are? The bear upgraded from a pocket tee and jeans to a full on button up long-sleeve shirt to have dinner with you! And you got bear hugs! I’m jealous.
rebo, bwahahahahahahahaha!!
ali, any accident you walk away from isn’t a bad one.
This afternoon is the wrap party for our annual gifts for unfortunate families. There will be pizza and beer, both of which I will forego. I have a bunch of fun stuff for a five-year-old girl. I had to ask, but it seems Hanna Montana is this year’s rave.
Tomorrow is yet another festival of [del]gluttony[/del] treats and a luncheon. Happy Hog-idays!
Congratulations, Ali. On the graduation, that is. And argh on the accident.
Hi, kai! Nice to see you!
I feel sort of like death. I was coughing on and off all night, plus having mild contractions. I think the coughing spurred on the contractions. So I had weird half-sleep plus crazy dreams plus mild discomfort- well, they don’t actually hurt, it’s just weird when your abdomen goes rigid every ten or twenty minutes. So today will be low-key and have lots of tea in it.
On the list of lost Mumpers, where’s **Nava **this week?
Great pic, **shadow **& swampy!
It’s snowing here again. Nice, big, puffy, white flakes. I love this time of year. As long as I can get out ok when work’s done!
I made curry tuna and curry orzo with peas for dinner last night. It was very YUM.
That was after a work-related party (sponsored by a vendor) where I had 3 mini crab cakes. They weren’t the best-ever crab cakes - they didn’t have big chunks of crab - but they were sill crabby and fried and tasted good!
Howdy, everybody. Lots of yakking going on – you guys are a conversational bunch!
Love the pics, Swampy and Shadow! I’ll bet you guys had a great time. And I concur, you guys both look very huggable!
Yay on graduating, Ali! But boo! on the accident – although Pugs is right, any accident you walk away from is a good one.
Hi, kai! Papa Tigs will be jealous of your meat selection – he grew up on wild game and still misses it. Every once in a while he persuades his brother to send us some duck or venison sausage, but not nearly often enough. That stuff is Teh Yum!
It’s still below freezing here, so the snow in the yard is still there and the Idiots have had a lovely play in it. Stoopid dogs! Plus I’ve finally got a workable solution to the floor having zero insulation and my feet freezing all winter as a result. Papa Tigs got a cheapo foam mattress pad for me, and I cut it up and taped it to the sides and bottom footwell underneath my desk, to block the chill from both the exterior walls and floor. And for the first time in (now) three winters in this house, my feet are comfy without having to wrap myself up like I’m a butterfly larva! So I’m very pleased. It was worth all the crawling around on the floor and fighting the duct tape.
Back to work. I’ve got that job that’s due today, plus I may end up with more congressional [del]drivel[/del]work before day is out. Envy me my exciting life.
