Family Guy: 9/27/09 (open spoilers)

The thing about shooting a cheeseburger not being in bad taste sounds almost self-referential, as Seth McFarlane has commented in the past that he’s regretted making JFK jokes.

The Disney sequence was animated by Main Street Pictures. Also, I was surprised that they actually bothered to get permission for all the action figure characters in the Robot Chicken segment.

I loved the part where Stewie was making out with himself in the two-headed universe. Overall a good episode.

Me too, but I think they missed an opportunity. This would have been a great moment to return fire on South Park for their two part slam on FG!

I was surprised they didn’t do a segment to slam South Park. Maybe they figured the retaliation would be far worse/better than anything they could come up with. (on preview I see middleman commenting this too)

Also, no Simpsons homage. That seemed like another obvious place to go.

I liked the “real world” Brian. Why can’t regular Brian be cool like that

IMO he did.

Seth has the black hair like that, and it’s of course he’s white and has the voice. They obviously wanted to keep the Brian square nose, but the rest said “Seth” to me.

I thought it was really funny, and one of the least preachy episodes they have had in recent months. The choppy thing I thought was internet animation?? And when they were real I laughed very very hard.

Can’t wait for Star Wars tho…

Good to see one that was just funny for funny’s sake, and not another “Brian rails against…” episode. Those are getting to be the Family Guy version of The Simpsons “Lisa protests…” shows.

I asked this in another thread, but it fits more here.

Anyone know why FG isn’t in HD yet?

I read that it’s supposed to go HD next season. The Cleveland Show started off in 4:3, then as they started to leave “Family Guy” it scrolled out to 16:9. I was hoping that meant Family Guy would be HD, but I was wrong.

Nah, the joke wouldn’t have been funny if it were. (It was mildly disconcerting - and gave the joke away - actually, that the image on my non-HD TV was completely surrounded by black.)

MacFarlane already got in the perfect comeback when he was giving a commencement address a while back. It was something to the effect of:
“It is true that your typical Family Guy episode is a string of gags with no overarching social message. The simple truth is that we put those gags in our show to… well, to be funny. Stone and Parker are above such petty concerns, and for that they should be commended.”

I think that a good burn like that without going to the trouble of an in-show retaliation means he’s “winning” their little feud.

My one bit of fridge logic for the episode -

Why was it in some universes they seemed to “take the place” of alt-universe Brian and Stewie and in others they existed along-side alt-Brian and Stewie? I mean, you could argue for the Christian-free-iverse they just weren’t at the same place, but the Disney universe?

I don’t know, just bugged me.

There’s nothing suggesting that they took the place of their local duplicates.

The Disney, political-cartoon, Robot Chicken, and real-world universes, they changed to match the local art style, but their local equivalents (if they exist) would still be there.

They didn’t change in the blocky-verse which is weird, but it’s a lone anomaly in the episode.

Sorry for resurrecting this a week later, but I loaded this episode in Hulu just now and the commercial sponsor was…Disney. Now that’s freaking comedy.
