Is no one interested anymore? I watched all three last night.
I have to type fast as I accidently posted before sharing my thoughts
Simpsons had a funny opening (racing out of the church parking lot) and was an okay episode.
Family Guy wasn’t too great and it may be the last we see of Drew Barrymore on that show.
American Dad was my favorite of the three. The goo vacations was a pretty good idea and eating one of the survivors was fairly shocking to me at least.
American Dad was great, especially Roger, Family Guy was…interesting. I wonder what anyone else thought of the bit where Stewie told Brian he could fuck him if he wanted? I’m no prude by a long shot, but that was a bit odd to say the least. Brian screwing human girls is one thing, but come on- what’s next, Peter screwing Meg while Chris beats off ??
And FG is REALLY going overboard with the 70’s/80’s references for no reason but so viewers will think “cool, Conrad Bain, I remember him”.
I found it strange that the first act of Family Guy ended without a joke, until I discovered there was a gag cut from the show (although it did air in Canada) satirizing both The Simpsons and bottom-of-the-screen advertising.

Friggin pathetic- they cut that, but leave in the bit with Stewie and Brain in bed?

They may have shown this bit in some parts of Canada, but I’m pretty sure I would have noticed it in Calgary.
I liked the part on American Dad where they spoofed the cruise lines. “Middle class vacations for below average income families” or something like that. I haven’t seen a show parody that before. I’m pretty sure though that if a cruise line has a man overboard, they stick around to see the result.
I loved the Simpsons this week. Very good consistent episode. Homer even sang opera while keeping his job at the nuclear plant. Usually it’s not even clear whether he quit his job or even still works there. I loved when the girl on the motorcycle hit the ramp, then did a bounce off Barney.

Well, they’ve removed the gag, so could you describe what they left out?

As Brian is explaining his plan to get back together with Gillian, an ad appears reading “Watch The Simpsons Sundays on Fox” with a tiny Marge. A tiny Quagmire then appears and tries to take Marge’s clothes off. She runs away, with Quagmire (with his pants down) running after her. After Brian finishes speaking, the other characters stare as Quagmire and Marge (both still banner-ad sized) walk arm-in-arm off to the other side of the screen, Quagmire saying, “That wasn’t so bad, was it? Let’s go to your place for round two!” The camera then cuts to the outside of the Simpson house, and the rest is implied by sound only: as Quagmire and Marge are finished with “round three,” Homer walks in. Quagmire shoots him (and apparently Marge). Bart walks in and says, “iAy caramba! Mom and dad are dead!” Quagmire shoots him. Lisa walks in and wonders who will pay for her saxaphone lessons now. Quagmire shoots her. Maggie walks in and sucks her pacifier.

Quagmire shoots her.

And that’s where I turned off the episode. It passed the point of satire to just being unfunny.

I did, too. I loved the way they handled the funeral scene, and the falling chandelier jokes were very funny. And the Citizen Kane parody cracked me up, but that’s probably just me.

I didn’t see the scene either. Were “The Simpsons” voice actors participating in the scene or were they clearly imitations?
Here’s a poor quality link from youtube. I haven’t watched it since I’m at work.

I see. So the little war between Seth McFarland and Matt Groening is now getting vicious. I would’ve thought McFarland would’ve saved a blast like that for “South Park” since they really ripped him a new one.
