Where is the thread on new episodes of the Simpsons/ Family Guy/ American Dad?Spoiler

At this point I think the idea that there’s been a war (little, big, whatever) is overstated. How many jokes about Family Guy have the Simpsons actually made? I can think of two or three in ten years. They’ve made more jokes about Fish. How many bad things has Groening said about Family Guy, or McFarlane about The Simpsons? I don’t know of any. Maybe I’m reversing things I’ve said in the past, but there’s a little bit of a sibling rivalry at most.

Look guys–the whole damn show is “The Aristocrats”/“The Sophisticates”, & it has been since day one!

I figured that out the first time I* saw* it.

That’s interesting. I just watched it again on my PVR and the Simpson bit is not there. It fades to black just before it. I wonder if they cut something out of your version to make both shows fit the same time block? I watched it on Shaw.

I liked this episode better the second time I viewed it. The bit with Chris and the convenience clerk was pretty funny. I did not get the reference to robots from the eighties. Where was the second robot from and who is Paulie?

It’s from Rocky III. Rocky got his brother-in-law that stupid robot for his birthday. Paulie wanted a car of some sort.

Rocky IV, as Stewie points out, not III.

I loved the evolution opening in The Simpsons.

They repeated that opening from an episode last year. I don’t know if they have every used the same gag on more than one episode before. Going from memory, Marge asked in this episode if Homer brought the coffee, in the first run Marge asked “what took you so long?”

Oh, sure. Couch gags are often reused. I’m not sure of the exact number, but I’d say that each couch gag of a season is reused at least once later that same season.

It would have been better if they had had Homer’s development stop at the ape stage, and someone else carry on the chain, since he’s been depicted as ape-like on dozens of occasions.

They actually repeat them all the time, and only introduce a few new ones each year. You’re right that they changed Marge’s line from “What took you so long?” to something like “Did you pick up the milk?”
