Family Guy last night - (The Shark was not just jumped but bloody well leaped)

Yep, you got me. I’m perfectly OK with child molestors as long as they’re preists. That’s a deep, intelligent analysis of my beliefs, Xan.

I’d rolleyes you, but you’re just not worth it.

Everytime they do a filler scene (fall in front of the mailbox) SSSSS—AAAHHH while holding the knee or shin or whatever, they fly right over that sharktank.

Still, I find it funny.

You’re the one that said atheists aren’t really good people. And don’t hide behind the “I didn’t say it my religion just teaches it” bullshit either.

I loved when Brian was gnawing on the cross and growling. He reminded me of my own Bobby Ranger, except there was no steak attached.

But then I’m a God-hating heathen in the way only preacher’s kids with daddy issues can be.

The personal attacks don’t belong in this forum, so please take them elsewhere.

You forgot to put in the part about how you could have done it so much better.

Ta.

I disagree. It really was a blast after it came back. It’s this season in particular that has just been sort of weak.

And I sort of like the bullfrog bit (:guilty:)

Looks like Greg Dean of Real Life Comics is getting fed-up with McFarlane’s habit of interjecting his personal views into the show also.

The A plot (atheist Brian / newly-saved Meg) was okay, but certainly not their best. Brian forced to fetch (then growling with the cross) was fun. And I admit I did like the quick jump response to “if God’s up there in the clouds, then what’s he doing anyways?” But mostly because I just watched the 1980 Flash Gordon movie last weekend, having checked it out from the local library on DVD.

However, I really did enjoy the Stewie subplot, with the TNG characters. Especially the fact that they got the actual TNG actors doing the voices and poking fun at themselves. Stewie babysitting them for the day. Nice.

There was an episode of South Park a few years ago where Mr. Garrison gets a sex change operation. A number of people on this board decided that SP had finally gone too far. All the previous lampooning of gays, Catholics, midgets, Democrats, Republicans, etc. were just fine, but this time, woah boy, Messrs. Parker and Stone had really done it!

Need I even mention that the person leading this charge was transgendered?

I think that is precisely what is going on here as well. smiling bandit, to the best of my knowledge (and correct me if I’m wrong), has never felt motivated to post “Family Guy really did it this time!” before last night, despite countless episodes mocking Latinos, black people, the handicapped, etc. But suddenly there’s an episode concerning something near and dear to him (I think sb is a he), and out comes the “For Shame, Family Guy” post.

They mocked one of your sacred cows. It happens. I would advise you to take yourself less seriously.

And honestly, I couldn’t have been the only one laughing my ass off at the ST:TNG subplot. It was hysterical!

[sub]P.S. Yeah, the Meg-religion plot was heavy-handed. But Family Guy has never been noted for its subtlety, as far as I can tell.[/sub]

I realized that eventually, but when I first saw the scene I was thinking to myself, “Holy crap, Batman! Burt Ward looks fantastic for a guy who has to be around sixty!”

Well, there was a period in FG’s history when [Chicken bursts through plate glass window, lecture ends early]

Okay, okay, I laughed at the *Caddyshack *quote at the drive-through.

No, they mocked my sacred cow years ago. I didn’t mind. It was tolerable when the show was funny. When it’s Seth McFarlane pointing fingers and preaching… well, I could go watch Kirk Cameron for that.

Yet another thing he borrowed from Parker and Stone.

K, could every one just take a second and remember a character from a tv program that either revealed themselves to be an atheist or lost their faith. Now, other than Gregory House and maybe Mal Reynolds, how many of those characters kept up the atheism? I’m counting zero.

I’ve had to watch a number of shows tell me that I’m wrong and misguided and will eventually see the error of my ways as an atheist, and it’s really nice to–just this once–see the tables turned. Any religious folks who feel this episode went too far can just watch any other show on tv and have their live-view reaffirmed.

And you don’t because…?

To be fair, South Park really started sucking at that point. I didn’t even have a single episode declaration that it was over because every episode was just godawful and had me pining for the Scuzzlebutt episode. Wait, I take it back. When did Cartman’s hand have sex with Jennifer Lopez? I was completely done then.

In fact, even though I’ve heard it got better, I still haven’t gone back to it because SP fell just so far to me.

TV isn’t exactly bristling with consistently religious characters, either.

Ben Affleck. His hand was supposed to BE J-Lo.
