Not a movie, but I like it anyway:
“Your shirt…”
I can’t remember any of the dialogue from it, but Edward G. Robisons death from Solylent Green was made all the more poignant as it was his last movie.
“You always were an asshole, Gorman”.
Vasquez in Aliens.
Lonesome Dove: The Early Years, or whatever the hell it was called, where the Mexican forces are executing prisoners by firing squad. David Carridine refuses the blindfold, walks unassisted (and unshackled) to the position, they shoot, he falls, all in the space of five seconds or so.
The speed and casualness of it had an amazing impact.
The end of HAROLD AND MAUDE, with Harold pacing around the hospital waiting room. You never see her die, but it’s so sad (althought IMHO it would have been greatly improved by getting rid of the Cat Stevens music). And I’ll put another vote in for ROBIN AND MARION (making me one of the six people who’ve seen it.)
Stoid - GAH!!! I would never had thought of that on my own, but it certainly was a gick in the stomach when it happened.
I too, however, have to vote for Paul Ruebens in the Buffy film.
Also, in The Substitute, the little Mexican guy at the end glares up at his would-be killer, shows him the live grenade and says, “Boom.” Always loved that one.
I third Robin and Marion! I loved that movie!
** Gorgon, ** you reminded me of a movie I saw called “Independence Day” co-starring Dianne Wiest as a battered wife. She attempts suicide a couple of times, then finally one day she pours herself a (forbidden by abusive hubby) drink, plugs up all the cracks in the doors and windows of the kitchen, and turns on the gas.
However, Abusive Hubby comes home before she dies. So she reaches for the matches and is holding one ready to strike when he walks into the kitchen, smelling the gas. He says something like “You bitch!” and lunges for her. I don’t think she says anything, she just smiles, strikes, and KABOOM!
Oh my someone’s actually seen that movie…wow…i loved that movie. Although i liked the English-speaking Indian’s last words and salute before he is torn to bits alot. Best quote has from that movie must be
“He wants to know if you are gods!”
“We? No, we’re Englishmen. Which is the next best thing.”
That cracked me up…but then there was Mr. Connery singing out on that bridge…crown falling…his body fading into the background of the canyon…sniff
[nitpick]
“Earn this.” -Tom Hanks in Saving Private Ryan
Shouldn’t that be: “you earned this…” as in “go home”?
“Say 'ello to my leetle friend!!” -Scarface
Shouldn’t that be “I’m still standin’!” or did he say something after that?
[/nitpick]
I love those two movies
also…
“What’s that smell?” -Tyler Durdin
“…your shirt…?”
“Tara?”
