Famous, notorious and noteworthy Buddies in Film and The Arts

There are no rails. Please read the OP and if you have doubts, see my other posts. I have been trying to stretch the boundaries of what “buddies” can be taken to mean.

It’s not automatic that couples count as buddies, but they shouldn’t be ruled out on that count. The Beatles were more than a band (or were when they were at their peak) and can legitimately be seen as buddies. The Stones might qualify, Allman Brothers, many others, but just being in a band doesn’t automatically mean buddies.

Football and baseball teams might (in rare cases) be buddies, basketball and hockey teams probably more so, and some performing duos may count. I listed a few I thought might qualify.

There are no rails!

Just clarifying my intent in the thread, not picking on you, Equipoise. In fact, my third entry, Newman and Redford, was primarily because of your Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, although The Sting amplified their buddyhood.

The idea of the thread is to list candidates for what might later – in another thread – become a vote-off for the Top 10 or Best or whatever. Right now, though, shoot from the hip.

For several of the old B-Western cowboys the sidekicks got shuffled around enough that not many duos were permanent and loyalties moved from one star to another or from one sidekick to the other and you’d just have to pick a personal favorite from the lot. However,
