The recently started thread aiming at establishing whether or not Brad Pitt is a great actor, along with Pitt’s tendency in recent times to “buddy up with” the gang doing the “Ocean’s Some Number” franchise made me curious how many “buddies” duos, groups, etc. we can come up with.
Maybe after a few hundred have been listed we could have a follow-up voting operation to determine which buddies are or were the best.
But as a starter list let’s add to:
The Original Rat Pack
The Modern Ocean’s X-number gang
Newman and Redford
Lone Ranger and Tonto
Batman and Robin
The Beatles
Thelma and Louise
Bonnie and Clyde
Homer and Jethro
Bob and Ray
The Brat Pack
Siskel and Ebert
As you can see, if they were a team of at least two – from anywhere they are or were mentioned as a group – at least for the purposes of this thread, they are candidates.
Well, there are the “buddy cop” movies, like
Nick Nolte and Eddie Murphy - 48 Hours and Another 48 Hours
Mel Gibson and Danny Glover - Lethal Weapon series
Boris and Natasha
The Wild Bunch
Barnum and Bailey
Fibber McGee and Molly
The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse
The Seven Dwarfs
The Dirty Dozen
Amos and Andy
Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers
Torvill and Dean
Siegfried and Roy
Cisco and Pancho
Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid
Huntley and Brinkley
Mike Nichols and Elaine May
Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau. They appeared together in 11 films - “The Fortune Cookie,” “The Front Page,” “Buddy, Buddy,” “Grass Harp,” “Kotch, (Well, it was directed by Lemmon, but he made a cameo appearance)” “The Odd Couple,” “The Odd Couple II,” “Grumpy Old Men,” “Grumpier Old Men,” “JFK,” and “Out To Sea.”
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
Romy and Michelle
Tim Burton and Johnny Depp
Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro
Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio
Steven Soderbergh and George Clooney
The Coen Brothers and George Clooney
Brad Pitt and George Clooney
Everett, Pete and Delmar and maybe Tommy Johnson (O Brother, Where Art Thou?)
The Dude, Walter and Donny (The Big Lebowski)
Ben Affleck and Matt Damon
Couples, might not count, but it’s already gone way off the rails, so…
Jack and Rose (Titanic)
Romeo and Juliet
Brad and Angie
Sir Peter Wimsey and Harriet Vane
Nick and Nora Charles (The Thin Man series)
Jake and Neytiri
