Oh, well. The fact that you even knew who she was (bad spelling and all) is comforting. How 'bout Veronica Lake? Jean Tiernney? If it weren’t for AMC and TCM I don’t know what I do.
A few others:
I was on People’s Court in 1986 and, of course, spoke to Judge Wapner for a while.
In 1961 our family went to see Soupy Sales at an opening of IHOP in West L. A. This is where someone in the crowd threw a (frozen!) cream pie at him as soon as he appeared.
I once greeted California politico Jesse Unruh, when I was a high school senior and our water-polo team was playing at Inglewood High, then within Unruh’s constituency.
Esprix—Richard Grieco and I had lunch for a Cosmo article about two years ago. He was entirely dressed in black leather and wore his sunglasses even indoors! But he was very nice, seemed to have a good sense of humor. The piece is posted at http://www.rgrieco.com/cosmoart.htm.
Plnnr—I was but a tot when Veronica Lake died, back in '73! Never interviewed Gene Tierney. I tried to interview the late Miss Lamarr (Hedy, not Barbara), but her insane “handler” wouldn’t let anyone near her.
My biggest almost-coup was getting Zsa Zsa, Magda and Mama Jolie Gabor to agree to a group interview: and Eva said no! Just as well, I might not have survived four Gabors at once . . .
I saw Kevin Spacey in Vancouver the day that Planet Hollywood opened… he was wearing shades and a beret, and he just gave me this enigmatic smile…
…I knew Faith Ford (of Murpy Brown fame) in NYC when she was modeling and doing soaps in the early '80s…very funny, nutty girl…a stitch, also… see Michael Stipe (REM) all the time here in Athens,Ga…saw them back when they couldn’t all end a song at the same time…for the most part they are four nice, mostly unaffected guys (…you know, for rock stars)
The ones I’ve met are more quasi-famous. In chronological order,
Author John Saul
Musicians Robyn Hitchcock and Billy Bragg
Rock & Roll photographer Jim Marshall
I actually got to have dinner with Jim Marshall, and it was the first time I’ve ever seen name-dropping in action-- got us a table at a packed and trendy restaurant in San Fran. Hee hee.
Oh yeah, Paul, bassist for the inexplicably successul band Slipknot, is friends with my fiance, so he’s been to our apartment quite a few times. Not since he’s hit the bigtime, though.

Hey yeah! Judge Harry of “Night Court.” He used to bring his dog into the vet clinic where I worked when I was 16.
I met God while on a trip.
I’ve only ever met two famous people that I can think of.
My brother and I got to have dinner with Bobby Unser at his house in Albuquerque, after which he gave us a tour of his house, garage, and trophy wing. (Yes, he had to add on a whole room to the house to hold all the trophies he’s won. and it was FULL)
I also was part of a Jazz clinic run by Vincent DiMartino (if you’re not heavily into music, you’ve probably never heard of him. he’s a trumpet player, and phenomenal).
There is one safeguard known generally to the wise, which is an advantage and security to all,
but especially to democracies as against despots. What is it? Distrust.

Joe Cool
When this came up before I related my Wayne Newton experience. Now I have a more recent brush with celebrity to report!
My co-worker and I were returning from lunch, walking through Saks 5th avenue in Minneapolis’ Gaviidae Common (shopping center) when we saw this striking woman… I grabbed my co-worker’s sleeve, “That’s… that’s… she’s on that medical show… um, Chicago Hope, no ER…”
My co-worker responded nonchalantly, “Gloria Reuben.”
I was like, “Wow, wow! Neat! Cool! We saw a celebrity! Oh man, I can’t wait to tell my husband! Cool! Cool! Wasn’t that cool?”
Yes, I’m starstruck.
Here’s NBC’s page about Gloria Reuben:

Turns out she was in Minneapolis to open Tina Turner’s new tour - she’s a backup singer?

Some people say that cats are sneaky, evil, and cruel. True, and they have many other fine qualities as well.
