BLASPHEMY.
Maynard? As in Keenan? Or something else?
Yeah, it’s the remix of Pet that they did on eMOTIVe.
Holy Suckfest.
Hate the way ben looks. Hate the new Doom costume. Hate the fact that Reed is now seemingly in his late twenties. Hate the fuudged-with origin. Heck, I even hate the actors in the interviews I’ve seen them in, IE: http://www.movieweb.com/movies/film.php?983
I could be wrong, but something tells me this is gonna skew a lot closer to Daredevil, Elektra, The Hulk and Catwoman than the Spiderman movies or Xmen 2.
And it’s a damned shame too, since I was such a fan as a kid.
Another disappointed Marvelite signing in. I can take tying Doom to he FF’s origins – after all, he and Reed were roomies in college – but if that trailer represents the best clips of the movie they’ve got, it’s gonna suck horribly hard.
Mr. Fantastic’s stretching looked like a bad Roger Corman effect.
Johnny Storm looked like a generic fireball.
Sue … wasn’t she supposed to be invisible or something?
And don’t get me started on the Thing.
Okay, the Doom armor looks decent, but really, if that’s the best the movie has…
I think the trailer looks okay. I’m happy with the things they’ve doneso far. Maybe, I am not as hardcore a fan of FF as everyone else. With Spiderman and X-men taking the top two spots on my Marvel movie ranking I think this will place an easy third compared to the competition (Hulk, Elecktra, and Punisher just to name a few)
I do have a question though. What’s the big deal about combinig the Doom and FF origin if…
…they are one and the same. Is that true? I recall hearing that somewhere.
Actually, Doom’s costume is the worst to me - he looks like a skinny weakling. Where’s his stature?
Of course, I thought the X-men movies were crap.
They seem to be basing the movie more on the Ultimate Fantastic Four than the core book. In that one, Reed and Sue are about the same age–roughly mid 20’s–she’s a biology genius of the same caliber as Reed is in the physical sciences.
Oh, and she’s been able to do the invisible force blast thing in the core book for about 40 years now. It was introduced early in the Lee/Kirby run.
The trailer looks ok to me.
Sure, I don’t like the actress playing susan (at all) and i’m shocked they didn’t give johnny blonde hair (what’s was so hard about that???) and the Thing doesn’t quite look like the Thing in the comics and victor van doom suffers from the same problem BUT richard reed looks good to me and other than the character’s appearances , there is no deal breaker i could see in the trailer.
Of course, I said the same thing about The Hulk and Daredevil and look how those turned out…(I knew punisher, catwoman and elektra were going to suck sweaty monkey balls)
Nuh, uh. No way does an invisible force anything come out of her hands.
Swank. Tool and APC are my favorite bands so I love this movie already.
Yeah, she can project her force field from her hands like an invisible blast. As Kaitlyn says, she has been doing that almost since the FF started. Really.
levdrakon, I’m with you: the Invisible Woman’s invisibility powers are mental and the force fields shouldn’t be coming out her hands. BuuuuT I just checked my ESSENTIAL FANTASTIC FOUR Vol. 2 and in issue #22 (Good catch, Kaitlyn), when Sue first uses her force field powers, there are instances where the force fieds are drawn coming out her hands. But it becomes equally clear that the more her power is shown in subsequent issues, the more Kirby seems to make it plain the the force shields emanate from her mind. This was pretty much canon by Byrne’s run. In fact, I distinctly remember a time when Sue subdues the Hulk by suffocating him in an invisible bubble, and when he punches the force shield, Sue cries out how much it’s hurting her head. (No cite, I just remember this.) Hollywood being Hollywood, I’m guessing they thought Sue blasting things with her fingertips is more “heroic” or something. Bleeecch.
They can be mental and coming out of her hands. That is just how she manifests the forcefields. Normally, when you want to push something, you shove it with your hands. So she “shoves” things with her force fields coming out of her hands.
Lok
I disagree with almost all of this. The Fantasti-Car would look silly, the signal flare was always silly, “it’s clobbering time” and “flame on” are almost certainly in the flick, so I don’t need them in the trailer, and I think a different movie studio holds the rights to each Marvel property, so crossover references are all but impossible.
Sue’s powers are mental but she fine tunes the effects with her hands. Again, this looks like it’s based more on Ultimate FF than Lee/Kirby.
I’m not 100% sold on the Thing or Reed’s stretchy powers, hopefully I can suspend disbelief for two hours. I don’t blame this flick, I think strecthy powers would be tough to pull off in any live action movie.
I don’t like Jessica Alba as Sue. Sue Storm is Ivory Snow hot, not Penthouse hot, and I ain’t buying Ms. Alba as a genius in any field, except maybe cosmetics. Again, I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt.
I’m hoping for the best, but I’m the idiot who went into both Punisher and Daredevil thinking “they may have gotten it right”. Ugh.
Heresy.
I liked the way the Thing and the Torch looked. Reed’s stretching, however, looked utterly retarded. Hope the filmmakers realized what most good FF writers do – Reed’s real superpower is his monster intellect.
I’ve never read the comic books or anything, nor do I really have any interest in doing so. I’ll be seeing it because Ioan Gruffudd is hot. I saw King Arthur for him; I can suffer through anything.
I’m such a girl.
Jessica Alba is hot sometimes, but I really don’t like her as a blonde.
Sometimes? Sometimes?!?
Now that is heresy.
