I was under the impression Richardson was cuttable. I can still get him back though with Mathews being wasted space right now, not that Richardson did anything amazing. Scoring below five points like most of the rest of my team.
And I have been reading the fantasy analysis for my players and I missed the one about MJD being a third down back. I found it now of course.
The problem with Mathews being “wasted space” now is that he’s going to be rostered by someone until he isn’t wasted space, and then you’ll never get him back.
I’m not that skeptical of Griffin. I am after all going to need a decent backup if/when Ben craps out on me, amiright?
You think he’s worth keeping around then? For him to get injured some more later?
And what’s this about Richardson? The only RB I have that didn’t score more points than him was Wells. Was it just an off week for Richardson and he’ll be getting double digits in the near future?
Speaking of Beanie, should I be throwing him out in search of more sleepers? Since I have no studs, I pretty much need my nonsleepers to not suck (like Wells and a few others did) or I need people who have the potential to really come into their own and become studs.
You are committing the cardinal fantasy sin of judging players after one week of results. Stop chasing TDs, check the updated projections, and make adjustments according to that.
Completely depends on what you mean by “sleepers”. Someone like Kevin Ogletree or Stephen Hill? Absolutely not. Alfred Morris? Maybe. #1 rule: don’t drop starting RBs for speculation. Several people have given you some advice on who your most expendable players are. Use that information. Also, look at what the other teams in your league are doing. I doubt anyone is systematically dropping their Week 1 poor-performers.
Yeah, you, me and every other person playing fantasy football.
This, a million times. You know that part at the beginning of Office Space where Peter keeps switching lanes in traffic and every time he switches the other lane starts moving? Well, fantasy football isn’t quite as random as that, but if you start making decisions on the basis of one week’s production that’s what you’ll end up doing.
You do NOT drop first round running backs just because they missed the first game of the season. Mathews will be back either this week or the next, and when he is he’ll join the very short list of starting running backs on good offenses who don’t share time.
And don’t let the whole “injury-prone” tag scare you. Mathews played in 14 games last year and had over 1500 yards of total offense. You don’t drop that guy until/unless he’s on IR.
Sigh. There are how many more weeks left in the season?
Unless I can find a store that will give me a bulk discount on patience, I’m wondering just how suited I am for this game. I want to be doing something.
Your options (at the beginning of the season) were to join a Salary Cap league (constant adjustments) or multiple leagues. But yeah - 80% of your transactions were on Draft Day. The best move is usually to not do anything (especially if it involves dropping RB1s).
Damn, this Trent Richardson guy really kicked some ass. Sure glad I didn’t get rid of him.
Marques Colston and Fred Davis on the other hand, have sucked two weeks in a row. At what point do I dump them and pick up someone who is on the verge of breaking out? Because even if they don’t break out, there’s not much room to suck even more than Colston/Davis. They already lost me my game this week.
The players most likely to be on the verge of breaking out are those who have broken out before, but haven’t done so yet this season. Guess which category Colston and Davis are in.
You can’t look at two weeks and toss out five years, especially with receivers. I’m not big on Davis, for the record, and if you want to get rid of him it’s fine with me. However, Colston has been in the NFL six seasons, and posted 1000+ yards in every one of them (except one where he only played in 11 games). In any case, he’s got 120 yards through two weeks, which would be 960 yards over a full season. He hasn’t scored, but that’s just the nature of the position. in 2012 he scored five of his eight touchdowns over the last four games of the season. That stuff just happens, and there’s nothing you can do about it.
Well in my defense, I have no idea, none, about players’ history. I had never heard of Marques Colston or Fred Davis before getting into this league. I’ll keep Davis and Colston around but they better start kicking some ass.
I do want to work on my bench though. That’s as much of a relevant part of my team as starters and I have Beanie Wells and Rashad Jennings in there. So with two spaces that are technically open (haven’t dropped them), any suggestions for people I should put in there?
I could use another WR in my bench because right now I only have Donald Jones as a sleeper and right now, he’s not ready to put in for Steve Smith or Colston should anything happen to them. Jump on the bandwagon and pick up Amendola and hope he keeps racking up decent points?
Same with Rosario? As far as I can tell Antonio Gates is always injured and this will only benefit Rosario, no?
Who is available? Andre Brown (RB for the Giants) just had a crazy breakout game and is likely available since no one was thinking of him pre season. Danny Amendola is looking like he might be worth something. Who’s out there?
Colston is fine to keep. Don’t go dropping him, he has value, but Davis is a dog IMO. There is bound to be someone better on waivers.

Stuff I’m Interested In
[ul]
[li]A new tight end[/li][li]More wide receiver options in my bench, Donald Jones is not ready to replace Colston or Smith should they need replacing.[/li][li]Not that Ryan Mathews is ready to replace MJD or Trent if they need to be either[/ul][/li] Other Thoughts
[ul]
[li]Are kickers and defense kind of just like, “Pick 'em and forget 'em” type spots? Because unless Prater puts out a good performance tonight, I’m starting to feel like these are blown opportunities.[/li]Dennis Pitta is also available, who seems to have some attention getting paid to him for being a sleeper[/ul]
Google players you’re interested in. NFL.com, ESPN and everyone else will show you their raw statistics for each year they’ve been in the league, or their game-by-game statistics for any given year if you click “game logs”.
Colston might have the highest floor (on a seasonal basis, anyway) of any wide receiver in the league not named Roddy White.
Rosario is a waste of space. He has one game like this every season. I would much rather have Tate or Brown than Beanie Wells or Jennings. Hell, pick up both. I wouldn’t bother with Almendola. He’s never really done anything.
Highest priority right now is a new tight end, as I read more incoming news and opinions on Davis. Apparently he suffered a concussion on Sunday and just ugh, time for someone new.
I’ll pick up Celek for a tight end, but what about WR? Brandon Tate?
How’s that sound errbody? You guys should just view my team as a group SDMB project.
I like Amendola to break out this year with a healthy Bradford at QB, but he isn’t a priority pick up in a league as shallow as yours. He is probably a more reliable bye week backup than Donald Jones assuming the bye weeks line up right. I like Brown and Ben Tate both better than Beanie and Celeck is ok. Is that it for TEs? It’s the only spot on your team that feels like a priority to me.
